1. Section 31 of the Child's Right Act puts the age of sexual consent at 18years
2. Section 18 Matrimonial Causes Act puts the age of sexual consent at 21.
3. Section 7 of the Sexual Offence Bill, the age for sexual consent is 18.

There are conflicting provisions regarding sexual consent age in different laws in Nigeria. While most say 18, others say 16 and 11.
What should be considered is the jurisdiction of the offence and offender.
The most applicable law in Nigeria with regards to sexual related matters for children is the CHILD'S RIGHT ACT, it applies in 24 states in Nigeria, including the F.C.T, and according to it, the legal age for sexual consent is 18years.

The essence is to protect the girl child, and this age goes in line with the actual age for MAJORITY in other aspects in Nigeria, e.g., age for voting is 18years and above, age for Criminal responsibility is also 18years and above, e.t.c.

Why is no one looking at the guy's statement. He said he had consensual sex with her. It's sad he couldn't control himself in order to notice she is 7yrs and not 18yrs. To me, his story is true and the only case he has to answer is wiping a minor.
