Ibrahim505:You simply overreacted😅. Iinvest app doesn’t do real-time update on Coronation MMF rates since they are third party so the 0% showing for 4 days just signified that they didn’t know the real-time defined rate for those days, you can see this info if you click on the MMF. The displayed rate is always updated like twice a week circa 20-24% range. Anyway the security of your money is more important than ROI so your decision was for the best (due to your uncertainty). Attached below is the current rate showing (personally I just take 20-22% on average to calculate my expected quarterly interest and have never been shortchanged).

emmasoft:Bro, a friend started Stanbic mmf recently using your link, she needed money and wanted liquidate her money but a pop up shows that 100k of the money is on lien. She could not access all. So 100k was kept in the account and was denied her. Pls I have not experienced this before and know nothing to Tel her. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by emmasoft(m): 9:12am On Jan 20, 2025*. Modified: 10:47am On Jan 20, 2025 |
Hopez456:MMF does not place a lien on any capital. The only message that can pop up when liquidating is to inform you that there will be 20% charge on any amount that is not up to 30 days in the total amount she is withdrawing except it's another type of mutual fund. She can reach out to me or to customer care. |

emmasoft:Thank you for all you do. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Hopez456(m): 10:48am On Jan 21, 2025 |
emmasoft:she contacted Cc. they told her that the lien amount was as a result of a transfer done to her account by a third party. Because the name didn't match her name, that's why they lien that amout. To resolve, they requested for the transaction receipt. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by emmasoft(m): 10:59am On Jan 21, 2025 |
Hopez456:Okay. This also apply if you as a customer do a transfer and your e-account was not stated as narration, the evidence of payment should also be sent to the customer care otherwise it's not necessary. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Hopez456(m): 11:48am On Jan 21, 2025 |
emmasoft:Well, it is noted. But currently, I'm pissed with Stanbic. Their onboarding and communication process is not what it should be. For instance, I registered with them, provided necessary details and KYC documents via the online portal and have been crediting my account steadily amounting to millions of Naira, they never send a mail that my account is in tier 1. I requested for redemption for over 24hrs, it was not processed. Same KYC details I provided other mmf operators, I used to redeem and was credited with 3hrs. I put a call across to Stanbic to enquire why my redemption was not processed, they told me my KYC is incomplete blabla, they sent me amother onboarding form and that I should provide my KYC details all again. This is so annoying, why wasn't I informed all these while that my account is in tier 1? Meanwhile I have provided all of these via the online portal. And I urgently need the money cos after sending them the KYC details again and following up with call, they said 48hrs to process KYC. Same thing is happening to a friend . This is very annoying. |

Hello everyone, I was hoping to see some market outlooks from our fund managers, but I haven't come across any. I'd like to share my own outlook for the year. Currency:Given Nigeria's import dependence, exchange rates are crucial. With significant investments incoming in the oil and gas sector, I expect dollar inflows, leading to a relatively stable exchange rate. Devaluation might be limited to 10-15%. Rates: I believe current high rates are unsustainable, especially for the government. I predict a rate cut, possibly in Q3. Equities:If exchange rates remain stable, I see the equity market outperforming fixed income. My top picks are financials, oil and gas, and telecoms. Investment Strategy: - Low-risk investors: Consider bonds (savings bonds, Treasury bills) for long-term and short-term goals and 40% money market fund. - Average-risk investors: Allocate 20% to equities, 30% to bonds, 30% to money market, and 20% to Treasury bills/commercial papers. - High-risk investors: Allocate 15% to equity mutual funds, 10% to savings bonds, 10% to Treasury bills 15% money market fund, and 50% to stocks. I'd love to hear from our experienced investors and fund managers. Please share your insights! Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion and not investment advice. Please consult your investment advisor before making any decisions. |

Good day all. I'm a newbie and I have following thins thread for some days now. I want to ask, is it possible for someone to loose money in this mutual fund investment? Also, what is the best fund manager to use? I see a lot of complaints about stanbic ibtc. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by emmasoft(m): 8:54pm On Jan 23, 2025*. Modified: 10:58pm On Jan 23, 2025 |
ManAdii:To your first question the answer is YES and NO. Yes, if the mutual fund is equity base or balance fund. Basically the underlying assets determine the risk involved in any mutual fund. No, if the mutual fund is money market fund. It's not possible to lose money here because the underlying asset is basically treaury bills. The word best is relative so it will not be possible to just say a particular fund manager is the best. Different customers have different experiences with different managers. Customers rate managers base on what they are looking at for - rate, customer service, online presence and easy of navigation etc. You can chat me up if you need more guide. By the way I use and represents Stanbic, Norrenberger and SFS capital. |

ernie4life:@ernie4life, great post. You said it all as per your outlook on both the fixed income and stock investments. To a large extent the outlook looks positive this year. However, to benefit in any situation in the economy, individual investor must stick to their investment objectives and invest in what aligns with their risk tolerance. |

David6956:@David6956, both are good and fall under low risk investment, Your objectives for investing will determine which to invest in. For most consevative investors they do both. check the page before the current page of this thread to see my two posts - Why I prefer MMF to TBills and How investor put MMF to work it could help.
