Lagos is a thief, VATs for Multinationals are paid to Lagos state but they operate and sell their products across the country.

Which state does consumer tax from FMCG, Breweries etc go to? How about Oil corporation operating in South South and South East while their headquarters is in Lagos.

Why is it that it's only Lagos Ports that receives over 90% of all cargoes imported into the country, why is Warri port, Koko port, Calabar port, Onne (operating at low capacity), not functioning as they should?

What do you expect from a state whose successive governors made only one city - Owerri to be viable economically. They continue to build Tower of Babel city of the state capital, Owerri while they watch the other cities that started Imo state with Owerri to go down the drain.

To whom much is given much is expected. Lagos, PH and Kano has more FG works and properties. SE has almost no FG properties. In fact, i think, SE is still being cheated. How many FG project that will generate revenue is going on in the SE? What has the FG built in the SE? the only project the FG has built in SE for the past 50years and its not generating any revenue is 2nd Niger bridge nothing more.

instead of calling Lagos a thief, you should instead thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for wanting to correct the wrong . Lagos state never complained about the new formula why called Lagos a thief?

The Whole of SE should just be designated an Open Defecation Site (ODS)

Just a Pit Latrine of a Shiithole

Richtaiwo:
So Oyo contributed N272 billion and received less than half while Imo contributed N4 billion
and received almost 18 times same amount. Is that supposed to be a state or a syphoning structure? Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Abia should be merged as one state. Wtf.

God bless Tinubu on the Tax Reform Bill. Very soon, the Bayelsa model will apply where contribution and receipt are almost the same. Monkey wey dey work no complain, na the baboons wey dey chop come dey complain of marginalisation.

Let's not even talk about Lagos before some economic migrants claim they developed Lagos. Lagos contributed 2.7 trillion and received 460 billion.

From the statistics, it's obvious that apart from Lagos, Rivers and Oyo, all others have been reaping where they didn't sow.

Talk of robbing Peter to pay Paul!

The other states must roll up their sleeves in order to boost their IGR.

Most State Governors are docile in their efforts at internally generated revenue because "food is always ready" from father Christmas (the FG).

Most of these states can do better
if only they can look inwards.

Guy

Ogun has the highest concentration of factories (after Lagos)

Ado-Odo/Otta LGA alone has good HEAVY-DUTY INDUSTRIES that make the whole of Oyo State a child's play

Ojuntana:
The figures are fake

That of Oyo is more realistic due to high level of commerce that goes on there

But the rest are more or less inflated by activities from other states

Ogun for example will see most of its VAT remittance subsumed by Lagos

The term state contribute is not correct. Is just that corporate payment points is the headquarters of the companies , and is not necessarily a reflection of VAT generation/source.

Do you know that 60% of Nigeria's daily petrol consumption is domiciled in Lagos alone?

Do you know that about about 80% of the diesel used in Nigeria so used in Lagos alone?

You South East people make noise and hide under South South. In that South East, how much are you generating?

Is it not in the same place that going to Lagos is being celebrated?

Lagos generates substantial revenue because many multi-billion taxpayers, despite operating in other states, pay taxes to the Lagos State Government due to their head offices being located in Lagos. If the proposed tax bill is passed, it could compel these companies to pay taxes to the states where their operations are based, rather than to Lagos. This could significantly impact Lagos' revenue and shift the financial dynamics among the states.

States like, delta, rivers, Akwa Ibom, Kano, kaduna etc
