Mods are banning without telling you rule broken just because you spoke against their interest. I have complained to you seun several but you ignored. My opinion must not be the same with any mod here
Re: The State Of Nairaland by yyba: 12:23am On Jan 25, 2025
Seun why is that if someone hit peter obi in the right place some nairalanders will demand for that comments to be deleted or be ban ? And mods will do 1 from the two mentioned. But that same nairalanders are free to redicule and hit others without deleting or banning them is that fair for a public forum?

Nairaland is a nice place to get news, information on current affairs and trends. However, I notice that some childish inconsequential posts surprisingly make it to the front Page, probably simply because the poster is a known regular customer on nairaland, so whatever rubbish they publish which is always their personal opinion, whether relevant or irrelevant, is always sent to the front page to constitute nuisance for innocent readers.
Re: The State Of Nairaland by Stephen0mozzy:
Nairaland has fallen from the glory Days of 2010s. Now it's become a ground for tribalism, hate and unregulated spam posts.

Terrible and unworthy topics make frontpage just because they're controversial and can fuel name amd tribal bashing.

Worthy topics are left to die in obscurity, making would-be creators rather post rubbish. I remember Nairaland being the go to place back then, but now it's just a gossip mill, which stale news at its best.

But it's all good, NL is now that ugly child wey no find, but hin mama like am.

Include a comment ranking system, where people can choose to rank statements by likes or date.
Re: The State Of Nairaland by Seylad2009(m):
I sincerely commend your efforts in regulating the forum and keeping it running. However, I’ve noticed a significant decline in the vibrancy of Nairaland. Many great minds who once enriched the forum with their insights and creativity seem to have left the forum, leaving the platform less engaging and intellectually stimulating.

The days of educative discussions, constructive debates, captivating novels, and entertaining diaries from members appear to be behind us. Personally, I now visit primarily for daily news updates, which is a far cry from the enriching experience the forum once offered.

With these observations and many more that others might share, I believe there’s an opportunity to revamp and reimagine the platform. For instance, Mark Zuckerberg recently announced some changes to Facebook based on user feedback—something similar could help reignite the spark on Nairaland.

Wishing you and the entire team all the best in the new year.

Re: The State Of Nairaland by yorke1: 6:40am On Jan 25, 2025
To be sincere, most of the news I see on front page, are news that have are outdated. After like 2 to 3 days, the news makes it to the front page. In my mind, I am like which planet is the moderate in charge of front page from. They need to be up and doing when it comes to updating news on the front page. Let it be current!

The Forum's Lost Its Spark
It's time to face the music: our beloved forum has lost its value. Despite pleas to upgrade, it's stuck in the past. Here are just a few of the issues:

- No email notifications when you're tagged in a post huh You're still in the dark unless you manually log in.
- The design and overall look are straight out of the Stone Age. undecided

- Nl should already have a fully functioning, Feature-filled Mobile app

- Moderators seem more interested in doing the bare minimum, making it feel like they're phoning it in.
- Challenges and competitions? A thing of the past.
- The front page has devolved into a dumping ground for fake, outdated, and just plain boring news. Remember when you had to bring your A-game to get featured?

Time for a Revamp
Here are some solutions to get our forum back on track:

- Introduce verification badges for members to ensure authenticity.
- Hire a full-time, verified news caster to deliver reliable news.
- Reserve the front page for only the most important and relevant topics.
- Bring back challenges and competitions to reignite Nl community spark.

Get This Forum Fired Up Again!
I've got more ideas, but I'll stop here.

1.It's extremely toxic, and tribalisitc.

2. People making a simple point are met with abuse.

3. Trolling is rampant on this site. Too rampant.

4. Abuse is just too much. Yes, people have annoying views, but at the end, calling for someone to die or to be beaten up because they do not support your view...haba.

5. I honestly hate the Yoruba vs Igbo beef on this site. I mean....a thread on crime...Igbos vs Yorubas. A thread celebrating the achievements of a NIgerian...Igbos vs Yorubas...and so forth...

6. Then there is the whole Islamophobia thing. Any small thing...muslims are terrorists. (I'm not a Muslim, but it is getting annoying).

See a classic example, oga Seun. (I don't agree with Yarimo, he has once mocked me for my views...)

Someone makes a comment...and is labelled a terrorist.

I mean, we were asked to give our views on the site, not to abuse nairalanders.
Re: The State Of Nairaland by oz4real83(m):
I will give you just one instance of the several bad policies on nairaland. I am a Christian and I'm not ashame of it. There was an ongoing thread during the period where a mosque in Lekki publicized an offensive banner about Jesus. Some nairalanders on that thread were speaking bad of Jesus and I wanted to air my opinion, immediately I tried making my comment, I was told I must swear an oath to accept islam shocked shocked. How can a thread be talking about Jesus, negative or not, and u will want Christians to take Islamic oath before they can contribute to that thread? I won't have bothered much if Mohammed was the subject of discussion, but when Jesus is the subject, Christians should be allow to talk freely without an oath. This is one of the several abnormalities going on on nairaland. It seems you are on a mission to islamise Christians through this platform if this practice continues, the agenda is very clear

What different account? There is no 'different account'. I am not Yarimo, and I disagree with the guy.,

But must you be abusive all the time, oga? Would you behave like this in real life?

Nairaland remains a vibrant forum for Nigerians to exchange ideas, share opportunities, and discuss diverse topics, though its design and moderation style feel a bit dated compared to modern platforms. For me, it’s a nostalgic yet resourceful space where valuable insights and local perspectives can still be found amid the noise.
🧐
Re: The State Of Nairaland by armadeo(m): 2:42pm On Jan 25, 2025
You need to upgrade. There is a lot that is wrong here.

The serial beggars on every front page
Fraudsters with 2 odds on every front page.
Old stories on front page
Tribal wars unending
multiple monikers creating anarchy all over the place
Unavailable moderators and that bot that only God knows what was programmed into it

people hardly take this place seriously except when looking for specific information and it's usually the old threads asides that

Upgrade!!!! nairaland needs to upgrade.

Hundred percent agree.
Re: The State Of Nairaland by TheDevilsBride(f):
The amount of trolling and cursing on this website is unprecedented. And this is coming from someone who has a 10-years and running account, with the likes of Reddit and 4chan, where I actively contribute. There's lots of nutjobs in those forums, I promise, but the nutjobs here easily take the cake! There's very little intellectual stimulation as most users are impatient and/or seem to have very short attention spans. Lots of wackos on here too with outrageous views, statements and beliefs that realistically, should warrant investigation, lol.

Just kidding about the last bit, but seriously, I agree with Allsmilez999. The forum right now is stark reflection of the rigid, anachronistic, tribalist, corrupt and overly superstitious nature of most Nigerians. Mods don't do their jobs, there's tons of mindless cursing and vulgar language, threads get derailed faster than you can blink. Like you can have three widely different on-going debates on the same thread that ain't even related to the title of said thread, lmao.

Anyway, just my observations. If I were to offer any suggestions,

1> Get better and active mods.
2> Introduce a block feature if possible to weed out the trolls.
3> Introduce a philosophy section, as I'm a class act when it comes to waffling and asking inane questions about life, lol.
Re: The State Of Nairaland by oz4real83(m): 6:17pm On Feb 03, 2025
Seun will create a thread to sample opinions and will never respond or even acknowledge people's opinions angry. I know some will say he doesn't acknowledge or respond doesn't mean he hasn't read it shocked, is that the best way to treat people?
Re: The State Of Nairaland by legitonlinebiz: 7:47pm On Feb 03, 2025
NL is a country on its own mixed with different kinds of people. In all, its a great site especially for the credible ones who know and fear God very well
