Former US House speaker, Nancy Pelosi has reacted to a federal judge blocking President Donald Trump’s order seeking to end birthright citizenship for children of migrants.

Recall that on Monday, January 20, President Trump after his swearing-in, invoked his presidential orders to begin his long-touted immigration crackdown.

He signed an executive order, ending birthright citizenship for babies born to a mother and father who are not U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.
However, on Thursday, U.S. District Judge, John C. Coughenour issued a ruling, temporarily blocking President Trump's executive order that aimed to end birthright citizenship for children born to migrants in the U.S. temporarily or without legal status.

Coughenour issued the temporary restraining order after a hearing in Seattle.
The judge signed the temporary restraining order in response to a lawsuit brought by Oregon, Arizona, Illinois, and Washington state, one of several suits opposing the administration's effort to curb the right of citizenship for anyone born on U.S. soil.
In the courtroom in downtown Seattle, Coughenour interrupted the attorney for the Justice Department, Brett Schumate, to tell him how unconstitutional he thinks the administration's order is.
I've been on the bench for four decades, I can't remember another case where the question presented is as clear as this one is," Coughenour said, describing Trump's order as "blatantly unconstitutional."

Even Trump is a beneficiary of the American by birth law because his forefathers were immigrants.

Every land is made up of immigrants. In the early stages of humanity, people migrated to various lands to form clans.

Now because we all came to our present environment through immigration at one point of our existence,does it mean we throw the gates open allow people move in and out without proper vetting?. Does it mean anyone can just claim to be part of us, underrating and culture and struggles just cuz they were born on the land?

Maybe you can ask their forefathers why they put it in their Constitution and it was written there in black and white.

In the US of A. It is not a case of executive action. It is a case of written in black and white in their Constitution.

The same with rights to bear arms. Wondered why America has a huge gun problem? It is because it is in the Constitution.

So if they want to stop non immigrants not to birth kids that are Americans automatically,they should also stop the right for every Tom,Dick and Harry having Military style firearms. Because come to look at it that makes no sense more than fighting over citizenship

American is exceptionally different in that it's an immigrant country with different nationalities from majorly European countries coming together to form American.

It is a heterogeneous country. Unlike Nigeria which has large homogeneous regions forcefully fused together to form a country.

Like I said, if that be the case people like Trump whose grandfather was a German citizen lack the locus standi to stop other immigrants like him from benefiting from birth right law.

His grandfather was never part of the struggle of American war of liberation nor civil war but a mere beneficiary of the birth righ law that made Trump father and Trump himself a citizen.

You postulation doesn't stand in his defense.

I am not an American . I just have my convictions pertaining different issues.

Everything has its threshold. There is a limit to how much pressure you can apply on something before it explodes.

American cannot continue accepting everybody just because 'its a country of immigrants'. If you continue accepting everyone with time the system will collapse. American accepted immigrants easily in the past for certain reasons. Now they've gotten to a point where they can no longer continue giving everybody citizenship.

There used to be American visa lottery for Nigerians but it got stopped when America reached it's quota for Nigeria.

The strength of America today is the diversity and immigrants.

Is that not why people like Trump and Obama could dream and become Presidents?

Are you saying these aforementioned names don't have passion for American despite the fact they are never native Americans?

We have to admit it is indeed an immigrant country and that is what made them what they are today.

Somebody who is a beneficiary of such law can't wake up and change the whole thing in a day. Besides, I don't know if his executive order override the constitution.

We will see about that.

I agree with you ,the constitution should be changed.

I am not an American and I think every country should do what is best for them . Me personally,I am not in support of citizenship by birth. For me, one of your parents has to be a citizen for you to qualify as such through birth

There is absolutely nothing wrong with citizenship by birth. Nothing wrong. Most of the people saying they don't want this and that,their forefathers were 'inlegal' migrants too.
Trump's Grandfather came from Germany to the USA. The Europeans came from Europe and took over tribal lands from the American Indians themselves who were the owners of the land.

However maybe little tweaking can be done to it. Maybe telling those who want their children to be citizen should stay for a few number of years,like a year or two before they become full citizens. Like it's done in the UK. not having the child today and leaving tommorow. That is still understable.

But wanting to stop citizenship by birth automatically is unfortunate and it is the talking points of racists

But people just wanting to give birth and achieve citizenship without contributing and absorbing the environment, culture is what I'm against.
