Indeed Yam Amala and unripe plantain Amala are very good and go well with all kinds of soups. I just got to know from a YT channel that the Yoruba folks have "Elubo Gbodo" and "Elubo Poroporo" which are made from totally different species of yams. The Elubo Gbodo requires less use of yam flour to make the Yam Amala thicker and men say they like that, while the Elubo Poroporo is used to make fluffier or lighter Yam Amala which women say they like better.

We speak English, the English translation made me to understand that it's swallowed and not chewed. Since I have been hearing of Tuwo Shinkafa I thought it's eaten like normal rice.

It's like Igbo people calling Akpu - Loi-loi or Nlonlo, other Nigerians may not understand the name unless it's translated literally which means Swallow

If you say Akara then many people won't understand what's, so sometimes telling people that it related to beans doesn't change the name. Some people care about what food is made up.

Why don't you write in your native language for everyone to understand?

I told you that I thought Tuwo Shinkafa is eaten like normal rice with stew. Now the OP mentioned that it's swallowed with soup, I now understand it's swallowed like Loi-loi or Fufu. Is this the renaming you're talking about?

You must understand that English must be used to explain things to non native and it's not renaming.

Tuwon Shinkafa (Rice swallow) is made from 100% Rice. It is a major swallow in Northern Nigeria. So many eat this as their major swallow at home, on a daily basis. It is also served in special occasions like weddings, naming Ceremony, Birthday parties, special occasions etc.

Tuwo Shinkafa go well with either Egusi soup, bitter leaf, Groundnut Soup, vegetables etc. It doesn't go well with draw Soup (my opinion).
