Let’s cut the chase and go straight to the point.

Unegbe was the only casualty of Igbo origin in the coup.

The coup was successful in the North primarily due to Nzeogwu - an upright and influential soldier.

The coup down south was a flop. Especially in the south east.

Nzeogwu was furious, he planned to march down south to finish the job until Ironsi intervened, negiotiated and eventually arrested him.

You might want to read up on Nzeogwu, he wasn’t a tribalist unlike the drunkards that messed up in Lagos.

Guy read the article.

Did the coup happen around Sallah?

How was it possible for Ironsi and Ifeajuna to be seen AFTER BALEWA WAS KIDNAPPED on January 12 1966 as you earlier mentioned?!

Abi Sallah in 1966 was in January? 🤷

Read my post again.

I clearly mentioned Unegbe was the only victim of Igbo origin in the coup.

Kaduna Nzeogwu (a detribalised patriot) clearly mentioned Ironsi, Nwafor Orizu, Azikiwe, The Eastern Premier were marked for elimination as well.

The coupists down south messed up. Fucking tribal drunks

So you don't even know it was during the Ramadan fast that the Jan 1966 Coup happened?

So what are you disturbing us for if you didn't bother to read up on the Coup?!!!

We suspected you were arguing over what you knew very little about and you just confirmed it!!

Now let’s play this scenario.

If the intelligence agency issues a warning of a coup and no precaution is taken by those in power. Who is really culpable here?

Mutiny is treasonable, no arguments about that.

But failure to act on intelligence report? Damnable.
And for not heeding your so called "intelligence" reports, only military and civil leaders of other regions needed to be sacrificed, while all Igbo civil and military leaders were allowed to "escape", right? Imagine if that coup had been carried out by Yoruba soldiers and 2 Igbo leaders and 10 Hausa leaders were killed, you guys would still say it was targeted at the Igbo leaders (by you guys' nature of victim complex). Not to talk of what happened in 1966.

You don't need to worry about all this. These Nigerians only remember that coup is bad with January 15 1966 coup because Igbos were involved

All 7 other coups that happened later in Nigeria are are never remembered because they were done by Northerners

Northerners who carried out far more bloody coups such as, Murtala Mohammed, were put on the national currency

Muhammadu Buhari who overthrew the democratically elected government of Shagari, was elected President twice

Obasanjo who siezed power after putting down the Dimka coup, was elected President

Babangida who did his own coup is GCFR

So forget about it, Nigeria only remembers that coup is bad, only on January 15th. All other coups and their participants are celebrated
You guys love being clever by half. If you could bring up any coup in Nigerian history where leaders of other regions were almost wiped out, while the leaders from the tribe of the coup plotters were spared, then maybe people will take you mongs seriously.

No true revolution can ever take place in Nigeria without being distorted into a tribal narrative. The #EndSARS protests in Lagos serve as a glaring example. Initiated and amplified on social media by celebrities and influencers, and championed by the younger generation, the movement was nearly twisted into a claim that Igbos were plotting to burn down Lagos and the Southwest.

What was promoted by Lagos artist and celebrities like Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, and Falz almost became an igbo thing
Ah yeah! Kanu blaring out "kill Yorubas. Kill Tinubu. Destroy his business. Destroy Lagos." on your Radio biafla was actually a very great way of non tribal revolution, right? You guys are so irredeemably dense, it's so hilarious to watch.

Is Unegbe no longer Igbo? 🤷

The Eastern Premier - Michael Okpara was placed under house arrest during the 1966 coup.

The officer in charge of the coup for that region - Lt. Oguchi happened to lean on the moderate side of imprisoning corrupt officials, rather than killing them.

Unlike the extremists in the West and North region.

That being said, all the top politicians were well informed of the coup plot and had ample time to escape.

Guess the ones who acted on the intelligence report and escaped? 🤷

By all accounts,Nzeogwu was the only one who had genuine intentions to kill all politicians irrespective of their ethnic origin. I can’t say same for the other coupists.

Nzeogwu was regarded in high regard even by non-Igbo military leaders and officers.

Even after he was killed during the civil war, he was given a befitting burial with full honours by Gowon and the Nigerian government. This was at the early stage of the civil war.

Was the Oba of Lagos not accused of making controversial remarks about the Igbo community before the 2015 elections? Similarly, there were allegations against Bola Tinubu's wife, who, despite being a pastor in Redeemed, reportedly called repeatedly the same xenophobia against igbos that many perceived as inflammatory. Mc Oluomo was also criticized for his statements during the 2023 elections. Yet, despite public outcry, none of these individuals were summoned for questioning by Nigerian security forces.

This raises questions about selective law enforcement. In other parts of the world, such actions carry consequences. For instance, in the United Kingdom, Adenike Grand faced severe punishment and was held accountable for making statements perceived as genocidal against Igbos.

How is it an “Igbo” coup if the Igbos were almost 66% of the middle ranked officers in the army prior to the 1966 coup?

By default, most of the coup plotters would be of Igbo origin 🤷

Also, there were a lot of Northern officers who willingly followed Kaduna Nzeogwu’s lead in the Northern coup.

The “Igbo” coup myth can only be dispelled by the naked truth.

Not my problem Banjo was arrested on suspicion of being a coup plotter.

Remind me whose side he fought on during the civil war.
Yeah, even though Ironsi had no concrete evidence like the likes of Ademoyega's, ifejuanna's et al but you had no qualms listing banjo as a Jan. 15th coup plotter.

If you don't know whose side Banjo fought for during the civil war, I guess you need to go and do some more research on the civil war. Anyway, what has that got to do with the fact that, even in the absence of irrefutable evidence, you were very quick to list Banjo, as a Jan. 15th coupist.

Whose side was he on during the civil war? 🤷

Perhaps he was wrongly imprisoned by his fellow officers?

Ok so Ironsi was drinking tea and biscuits rather than engaging a dry fast till Balewa is released.

Has the story changed to drinking tea and eating biscuits instead of discussing with Ifeajuna shortly after Balewa was kidnapped? 🤷
