The “Igbo” coup myth can only be dispelled by the naked truth.

If the igbos, as you clearly opined above, constituted about 66% of the middle ranking officers in the army prior to the coup THEN, most of the coup plotters would be of igbo origins and so too would be the victims unless of course, the igbo coup plotters chose to protect their brethrens.

Also, the goverment that the coupists claimed was corrupt and undemocratic had igbo politicians making up about 70% of the number YET not a single one of them was deemed worthy of the coupist's bullets- they were placed under house arrest. Omo, una go explain, tire.

Ahmadu Kurfi never mentioned he saw Ifeajuna and Ironsi together shortly after Balewa was kidnapped.

Following Ironsi's move against the coup, Ifeajuna's friend Christopher Okigbo helped him cross the border into Dahomey (now Benin) and through to Ghana where he was welcomed by its leader Kwame Nkrumah.

As you can peruse from the text below, the PM was only killed after the coup was supposed to have failed or was ifeajunna just putting a finishing touch to the coupist's' dastardly MO.. Ifeajunna with Okafor in tow then ran back to Okpara, the premier that was, according to you , placed under house arrest, ostensibly to deliver a "mission accomplished" message to him before they went into hiding.



When Major Ifeajuna and party returned to the Federal Guards Officers' Mess he learnt that the GOC was in town and was organizing 2nd Battalion NA at Ikeja to attack the rebels. He was then joined by Major Okafor and they drove off together in Major Ifeajuna's car. At the Yaba Military Hospital they dropped 2/Lt Ezedigbo who had been wounded in the encounter with Brigadier Mai-Malari. The time was about 0400 hrs. Major Ifeajuna drove away on to the Abeokuta road. On the way they stopped and Ifeajuna asked the PM out of the car whence he shot and killed him. When he and Okafor became certain that the PM was dead they left the body in the bush at a point beyond Otta on the Lagos to Abeokuta road. They then opened the boot of the car and dropped the body of Lt. Col. Largema near that of the PM. They then drove on to Abeokuta. On the way after Abeokuta two other soldiers in the car were dropped and told to find their way back to Lagos whilst Ifeajuna and Okafor proceeded to Enugu. They arrived Enugu at about 1415 hours and proceeded to the Premier's Lodge where they held discussion with Dr. MI Okpara, then Premier of Eastern region, after which they separated and went into hiding. Ifeajuna eventually escaped to Ghana where he was received by the former President Kwame Nkrumah who sent him to Winneba to stay with SG Ikoku.

For starters, Banjo was arrested on the 17th of January and not 3 days after Ironsi came to power. Also, is the same book which you lot always love to quote, Major ademoyega claimed that Banjo was not a member of their coup plot but you conveniently stated here earlier, that Banjo was.

After, you were duly challenged, you made a quich dash onto wilkipedia and came up with a new strategy and that was that banjo was arrested because he was defending a yoruba man but don't know who that yoruba man was and then it was because he was trying to kill the new HOS. why can' you stand on a point and stop flip-flopping all over the place. Lmao, the funniest thing I’ve read today was that Ifeajuna drove eastwards from Yaba to Lagos for 10 hours to meet with the Eastern Premier - Michael Okpara who was under house arrest by Lieutenant Oguchi.

The same Ifeajuna later fled westwards from Enugu to Dahomey (present day Benin republic) by road and later on to Ghana.

At the time in question, we had 4 premiers, of whom two were igbos but somehow only the two non-igbos were killed whilst the 2 igbo premiers miraculously escaped. Omo, giv e it up already, the Jan.15th coup was an igbo coup within an igblo coup and the igbos were rightly served their comeuppance by the fulanis. If you were to repeat this same thing today, you will still get the same response..
