TheSuperNerd:
Afcon 2025 will hold from December 21st, 2025 to January 16th, 2026.

So we will end 2025 with the Afcon and begin 2026 with the Afcon. How interesting.

Afcon25 finals draw is tomorrow, Monday January 27th.

Here are the pots:

Pot 1: Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, and Ivory Coast.

Pot 2: Cameroon, Mali, Tunisia, South Africa, DR Congo, and Burkina Faso.

Pot 3: Gabon, Angola, Zambia, Uganda, Equatorial Guinea, and Benin.

Pot 4: Mozambique, Comoros, Tanzania, Sudan, Zimbabwe, and Botswana.
I hope we get South Africa grin

I just see this as an excuse. We have camped U17 successfully without incidences and it worked. Why fight a working and winning system?

What ever project brought to the table, when it is time for U17, do what worked. Back to back U17 titles is not beans
.
Sir,am talking about insecurities all over now...how would you feel if teens were kidnapped on their way to open screening.

4000 coming for open screening is archaic.....FIFA brought TDS and this can support what we produce through academies and youth league.I don't think winning under 17 is a must but discovering future talents.....2013 and 2015 combined have Osimhen, Iheanacho, Awoniyi, Chuckwueze,Ndidi who failed MRI,last season Success with Udinese,Uzoho, pls where are the rest with over 4000 that came for open screening.

In the 80s-90s nothing like open screening but we won the maiden edition 85,finalist 89,banned from participating due age issue, after ban we won Japan 93 and 95 team was cool,we had meridian 97 team.We achieved this through good developmental programs.

My view is this, without open screening we can still achieve it by following strictly organize grassroots football developments and mind you no more streets footballing like before, everything is now academies, even the local ones are attached to this school

It might actually turn out to be enjoyable...

Festive periods is when people like to flex more...it's one of the reasons why leagues like the premier league, NBA and NFL have games during festive periods to boost revenue

First match back from injury, and under a new coach, and he was introduced in the 57th minute of the match rather than late in the match. That shows that the new coach rates him and I hope he keeps delivering.

Can't offload without the assessment of the new coach, and so far, it seems he is rated by the coach.

Insecurity has always been a problem in Nigeria but people still go about their businesses including national youth service.

I agree with you about the litany of academies with talents from which we can choose from but you should remember that there are many talents out there who do not have access to those academies.
There are young people in Oturkpo, Wukari, Afikpo, Iseyin, Kaltungo, etc who are not enrolled in those academies but who can afford to take a bus to the state capital for an open screening.

Our schools had good sporting facilities in the 60s to 80s. There were inter-school and inter-state tournaments but those are no longer the norm today unfortunately due to bad leadership.

Do not disregard small beginnings. Granted we have a small number of players who eventually made it to stardom but that number was still significant.
No Nigerian was named APOTY for 23 years before Osimhen.
Iheanacho played for an elite club like Manchester City straight from a ragtag team in Owerri. That really elevated the reckoning of our local talents.

There must not be 100 elite players in the senior national team for us to do well. Two or three players could inspire a stupendous football miracle.
