Sir,am talking about insecurities all over now...how would you feel if teens were kidnapped on their way to open screening.

4000 coming for open screening is archaic.....FIFA brought TDS and this can support what we produce through academies and youth league.I don't think winning under 17 is a must but discovering future talents.....2013 and 2015 combined have Osimhen, Iheanacho, Awoniyi, Chuckwueze,Ndidi who failed MRI,last season Success with Udinese,Uzoho, pls where are the rest with over 4000 that came for open screening.

In the 80s-90s nothing like open screening but we won the maiden edition 85,finalist 89,banned from participating due age issue, after ban we won Japan 93 and 95 team was cool,we had meridian 97 team.We achieved this through good developmental programs.

My view is this, without open screening we can still achieve it by following strictly organize grassroots football developments and mind you no more streets footballing like before, everything is now academies, even the local ones are attached to this school

I am saying a well organized grassroot football development system is welcomed but when it is time to select the U17 preparatory squad, stick to the open screening.

If we are not doing it that way, don't worry yourself.

DABIGATRAN:
Insecurity has always been a problem in Nigeria but people still go about their businesses including national youth service.

I agree with you about the litany of academies with talents from which we can choose from but you should remember that there are many talents out there who do not have access to those academies.
There are young people in Oturkpo, Wukari, Afikpo, Iseyin, Kaltungo, etc who are not enrolled in those academies but who can afford to take a bus to the state capital for an open screening.

Our schools had good sporting facilities in the 60s to 80s. There were inter-school and inter-state tournaments but those are no longer the norm today unfortunately due to bad leadership.

Do not disregard small beginnings. Granted we have a small number of players who eventually made it to stardom but that number was still significant.
No Nigerian was named APOTY for 23 years before Osimhen.
Iheanacho played for an elite club like Manchester City straight from a ragtag team in Owerri. That really elevated the reckoning of our local talents.

There must not be 100 elite players in the senior national team for us to do well. Two or three players could inspire a stupendous football miracle.
Good input...

That is why I said we should have improved upon the U17 open screening program. Employ coaching crew early, come up with a comprehensive scouting program. This means wider coverage of zones and more time. This will also limit long travels.

Well, open screening or not a failed system will not produce future talents....NFF needs to gives us real grassroots developmental football programs that will laid a solid foundation for our under age teams.Appointments of under age coaches should be based on credibility not favoritism......good input bro.

First match back from injury, and under a new coach, and he was introduced in the 57th minute of the match rather than late in the match. That shows that the new coach rates him and I hope he keeps delivering.

Chuks nwa'mama
The guy's game play is quietly evolving. Should he remain at Milan he will have a lot to benefit.
In his last international match for us, he scored one of the most beautiful goal any super eagles player can dream about. His goal was only eclipsed by the home lose we suffered against Rwanda .
He is bulking up nicely, with more muscles.

Oh, so you don't even know simple mathematics yet you had the temerity to say I was lying. You see why I said you're nothing but a demented cockroach? I was even being generous with that description.

You're too obsessed with tackling everything I say about Dessers, that you can't even prevent yourself from displaying your obvious lack of intelligence. Next time, do you research before calling someone a liar.

N.B. When are you going to dump this your alternate moniker? You're not fooling anyone here. It's only dubious people/cowards who hide behind alternate monikers, and you're not even good at it. 😆 😄

I don't know whether Dessers stole his biscuit when he was little or whether Dessers stole his girlfriend from him to warrant this kind of hatred and jealousy.

If Dessers performs well, then it's for the benefit of the Super Eagles. We should all be happy for whoever is performing well, but perhaps he feels threatened that Dessers is going to take the spot of the players he likes.

No wahala, bro. I've heard you. I'll let it slide. It's just that sometimes you need to put people like that fool in their place.

COOL10:
Are you aware that going by Osimhen's rating, scoring anything less than 25-30 goals in the Turkish league would be considered a poor season by the big clubs? They'd start to see him as a one season wonder who couldn't even replicate his good form in a farmers' league. That's how those people think. The football market is a brutal market.

He's taking a very big gamble and if it doesn't turn out right, things could turn out pretty badly for his career. His pockets will be full, yes, but what happens when clubs no longer rate him highly anymore. We already saw glimpses of it in the just concluded transfer window, where Chelsea didn't even deem him valuable enough to at least offer him his current wages at Napoli.

I wish him the best, but honestly speaking, things aren't really looking too good for him. His pockets will remain full though. I guess that's enough for him. 🤷🏽‍♂️
This you? grin
We are doing the same thing na
You were bothered about Osimhen not scoring up to 25-30 goals in the Turkish league
And I am also bothered about Dessers not scoring same in the Scottish league
