Lifeless Body Of EFCC Official Discovered On Lagos Street, Less Than 2 Weeks After Another Was Gunned Down In Anambra

A man identified as Sylvanus, an official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been found dead in Lagos State.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, Sylvanus’s lifeless body, clad in traditional attire, was seen on the street of Lagos.

The onlookers said his ID card signified he was working with the anti-corruption agency before his demise.

“Where e dey work, nah EFCC. His ID card dey there,” voices, including a policeman, said in the video.

The circumstances surrounding Sylvanus' death are still unclear. However, SaharaReporters learned that EFCC is aware of his death.

This was confirmed by the agency’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale in a text message on Monday afternoon.

Oyewale said: “The death is being investigated.”

Sylvanus’s death comes less than two weeks after SaharaReporters reported the death of another EFCC officer, Aminu Sahabi Salisu, after being shot by a suspected fraudster in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

The suspect in the incident is identified as Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu, an alleged internet fraudster.

The suspect attacked EFCC operatives during an operation in Awka and shot Salisu.

SaharaReporters gathered from senior police sources that Nnamdi was apprehended while hiding in the ceiling of his neighbour's room following the crime.

Salisu was later flown to Sokoto State for burial.

Meanwhile, the EFCC has named the administrative block of its Academy in Karu, Abuja after Salisu.

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede disclosed in Abuja on Saturday, January 25, 2025, that the gesture was made to immortalize the slain officer.

He said this while addressing staff of the Commission at the Annual Rewards and Recognition Ceremony held at the EFCC’s Academy.

According to him, Salisu paid the supreme price in the service of the nation and his memory should be kept alive.

“We are saddened by the loss of our officer while on official assignment. He was a gallant officer and to this effect, the administrative block of the Academy is hereby named after him,” he said.

Lagos needs to plant more trees , and emergency services need to be at the speed of light ...Calling emergency lines with no quick response is counterfeiting. Police should also give guidelines on approaching issues like this , especially if you need to rush an unresponsive human to the hospital, because not everyone that is unresponsive is dead , but the fear of not getting tied up in what you don't know is there.

Imagine a victim of drowning being taken to a juju priest for sacrifices.

Either nobody really knew CPR or they were afraid of giving one to their fellow man.

Nowadays, seeing a dead or critically wounded person is normal.

Back in the day, people would get serious panic attacks if they saw a person in significant distress and couldn’t do anything to help. Like an accident victim, still conscious but visibly torn in half(only a matter of time before they die)

How many times has a random man,who so happens to coincidentally be an EFCC operative, whose men have been enmeshed in scandals,walk down the street and drop dead.
