No, traveling to Nigeria (or any country) on an expired passport is not allowed. An expired passport is not considered a valid travel document, and you will likely be denied boarding by the airline or entry by immigration authorities. Here’s what you need to know:

Traveling to Nigeria:
Valid Passport Required: You must have a valid passport to enter Nigeria. If your passport is expired, you need to renew it before traveling.

Visa Requirements: Depending on your nationality, you may also need a valid visa to enter Nigeria. Check with the Nigerian embassy or consulate for specific requirements.

Returning to the UK:
British Passport: If you are a British citizen, you can use your valid British passport to return to the UK. However, you must still meet the entry requirements of Nigeria (valid passport and visa, if applicable).

Steps to Take:
Renew Your Passport: If your passport is expired, renew it through your country’s passport office or embassy before making any travel plans.

Check Visa Requirements: Ensure you have the necessary visa for Nigeria if required.

Carry Both Passports: If you hold dual citizenship (e.g., Nigerian and British), carry both your valid Nigerian and British passports. Present the Nigerian passport when entering Nigeria and the British passport when returning to the UK.

Important Notes:
Airlines and immigration authorities will not allow travel on an expired passport.

Always ensure your travel documents are valid and meet the requirements of both your destination and home country.

Yes you can travel on expired passport.

However, if you want to return to the UK with a UK passport you would be asked how you entered without visa. That part I'm not sure

I know, that's the part I'm not sure of. . If Nigerian immigrations quiz you on how you came in then you'd have to mention expired passport. So then why isn't your passport renewed before returning to the UK?

Yes you can but you must renew it before you exit Nigeria again unless you have a Nigeria visa on your British passport.
