"Flying Air Peace": Lady, Her Family Fly From Gatwick London to Lagos With Expired Nigerian Passport

The lady and her family were passengers in an Air Peace flight that flew from London Gatwick Airport to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

In a video she shared on TikTok, the mother, @afrophbabe made it clear that they travelled on expired Nigerian passports. She said the boarding process was a bit delayed because of their expired Nigerian passports, but they eventually boarded.

She said they were served jollof rice onboard and that her daughter absolutely loved the food. Upon landing, she said she loved the Murtala Muhamed International Airport's beautiful appearance, noting that it did not look like Nigeria.

The mother said anyone who would like to fly to Nigeria from London through Air Peace should do so since her experience was good.

She added: "Flying with expired Nigerian passports is possible, but you must go early in case of any issues."

Ignorance. You can access UK as a UK national with an expired passport (in some instances, even without a passport). Even the US allowed entry for US nationals on expired passports until recently in 2022.

Great news...I must say that Nigerian government did well by supporting Airpeace ...now we all will benefit from it...a Nigerian can now go to London and come back with Nigerian Airline ...it will reduce the stress we go through with foreign Airlines

There was no big deal about this.

It was the Nigerian government that put the policy in place to allow people with expired passports travel home especially as the process to get a new passport takes several months.

Even before that there was an ETC, emergency travel certificate that could be gotten from the embassy to travel if a passport was lost. The United States (and I'm sure every other country) has a temporary emergency passport for the same purpose especially if you are in trouble in a foreign country.

The problem is that Nigerians too talk. Once they carry phone they will start broadcasting their entire life..
