ObaIgwe1:
Everything about a community or a nation does not end with the success or failure of how each family unit manages their homes. There are things done for the greater good of the community and for the Community/Nation's Pride. It is in the interest or pride of a community/nation when the community can claim that with joint /government efforts, they are able to have highly educated community, healthy community, safe community, produce geniuses, etc. If we allow individual family to cover all their needs, chances of having these achievements become slim, because even Jesus said "there will always be poor among us", this is why community leaders or government can/should intervene in supporting the weak/poor among itself to achieve these prides.

Also, there are consequences when we neglect the poor and weak among us to their fate; their bad health unattended to might become a community health challenge for which the whole community later suffer. Those poor kids with no chance of learning and survival might become nuisances to the community, then the government will now need to spend more money on fighting crime, enforcing the law, building more prison yards and taking care of them in prisons, all these cost could have been reduced if there is a system that gives everyone a chance to excel in life.

And finally, a good government should have empathy on the the weak and the vulnerable ones. Sure there are many families/parents that make lots of bad choices; but should the government really close its eyes and allow these children suffer the consequences of their parent bad choices?
it may sound tribalist - but there is a parallel between republicans and northern states in nigeria
hyper conservative deliberate policies to have a large underclass of poorly educated, easily manipulated single issue voters

and today, the poverty and conservatism has birthed boko haram and banditry.

The family is the smallest unit of the society and the success of every individual unit will translate into the greater society success. If you want to change the society, start from the smallest unit which is the family . There are things that concern everyone including National security, Road infrastructures etc which should be done collectively Many things are individual choices and decisions
As an adult you know what choices you make and what the results will likely be

Teaching individuals personal responsibilities and making them take it on is what will produce better outcomes. There needs to be a balance where you dont punish successful people for others, It breaks them and its what led to the ruins of communism. Human beings work hard so they can better their lives not because they want to give their wealth away. If you forcefully take it away to cater for others, then it stops every incentive to work hard
And in the event of a family making bad choices, can we blame and punish the children for the sins of their parent? Or should the government just allow them grow up, become nothing and tell them to blame their parents?

ICE has been deporting at least a thousand illegals who had criminal records besides being there illegally.
Why didn't Biden and Mayorkas deport them earlier?
There must be a motive.

In life actions and choices have consequences. The consequences will go to your children too.
If you decide to have more kids than you can take care of then who is punishing the children

Who is punishing the children here?

So you Obaigwe1 not taking your own money to cater for my children, will I say you are punishing my children?

You are saying govt, where will govt get money from? Is it not from the Obaigwe1 who is managing his life responsibly within his limit? So once again who is punishing the children

Reallyhuh

If the child now turn to crime for lack of opportunity because the parent failed him and the government also abandoned him, where will the government get the money to prosecute him and feed him in prison? From the community commonwealth right?

So you think the commonwealth being used to fight crime and keep bad trained children in prison is not better spent being used to give him a shot at better life after which he can also be able to contribute to the same commonwealth?

I certainly will not want to live in the same community with you. Yes I give to charity, and I certainly have no problem with my government using part of my taxes to also give the less privileged in my society a shot to a better life... Only an Ika (wicked) person should have a problem with that.

Remove the mindset that a successful child is only a blessing to his/her family, successful people are also blessings to their community and nation.

All these are pointing to one thing, How much govt decides their personal lives

The key issue for Republican where they differ from Democrats is the size of govt

Republicans wants minimal govt in all areas of their lives, Democrats want govt in every area of their lives
The Northerners want govt to resolve all their problems with little coming from them like Democrats

Actually people in South especially SE often call themselves Republican in nature

The child turning into crime is on the parent upbringing, No govt can stop anyone from turning to crime. The govt is already using part of my taxes to provide free education up till High school, providing infrastructures like road which everyone use

There should be a limit in govt unless you want to work and hand over everything to govt so they decide for you like its done in communist nations which have failed

All those emotional blackmail of calling people who want to keep their resources wicked wont work.. I am sure in your area there are homeless people on the street, how many have you the non wicked person taken into your home?

So make Una chill and stop worshipping her to who she never claimed to be. You guys are just cultists for no reason. Glad you guys are responding to him on that topic. Because we’ve rehashed this same topic over and over before so he knows what my response is going to be. So posting it again to me means we have to go back and talk in circles AGAIN.

Personal responsibility personal responsibility. But we use our billions to subsidize the mega wealthy. Who “innovate” ideas then privatize them at 1000% mark up the moment it becomes profitable. When they start failing, we bail them out with public funds. Give them year tax cuts in the millions and billions. Where’s their personal responsibility in all that?

Meanwhile a republican lawmaker on TV is asking children to go to work after “all I was a paper boy before child labor laws”. That’s how far back they want to take us.

Innovation is dying in America because people feel (rightly so) that the game is rigged and that they’ll never succeed. The whole hyper capitalist “give it all to the rich and hope their conscience will let them drop some crumbs upon the poor masses” is obviously not encouraging people to get creative and see what new things they can bring into the society. Where’s the time even? When most people are either at work or in traffic or in bed for the few hours of sleep they can get.

The same people working day and night to get by can’t afford childcare, healthcare, parental leave, can’t buy homes, etc. any kind of policies to help them is frowned upon by republicans.

Ask republicans to vote then for increased wages, they always vote no. They’re invested in maintaining a slave vs oligarch class. Funny enough half of their voters can’t even afford to go to the dentist yet they keep voting for them because they’re distracted by useless culture wars.

Yep. Unquestionably so.

Don’t forget to add the place of women in their society and how it compares with the republican policies on women’s rights. The Venn diagram is a circle

Are you familiar with Ayn Rand?

I ask because your last paragraph is so her thought, and Tea Party.

Collectivism, in Ayn Rand’s view, is the belief that the individual should be subjugated to the group and sacrificed for the common good. Anthem depicts the evils to which collectivism leads when implemented consistently.

Whose money should be spent keeping him out of crime? You are free to open your house and house as many as you want if thats what you desire and not force others to

Mr and Mrs X decides they dont want children because its too expensive and demanding so they can spend their money on enjoying life. Then comes Mr and Mrs Y who have 10kids they cant take care of but govt demand that Mr and Mrs X be compelled to cater for the kids of Mr Y despite choosing not to have kids

And that is fairness to you?. We know what usually follows, Mr and Mrs X will also stop working hard and wait on govt for everything

I and many Americans want to be responsible for the kids we give birth to only

Communism works as long as there is someone elses money to spend

Some of these things honestly should not be about Left vs Right vs Centrist; issues in bold should not be for debate on whether to have them or not in a decent society. The discussion should be how far/much can the Government afford to go. This is why Obama's speech of DNC-2004 still resonate with me till date. "I am my brother's keeper".

Its all good until someone has to actually pay for them and you are asked to pay more in taxes to afford these social services

Govt is doing enough already, Individuals should do their part too. Do you know how much the Federal debt is? or where will the money come from?
