There’s low demands now due to the Chinese holidays. No work in the whole of China for a few weeks, so people aren’t buying much.
That's very true. I hear it's till February 4. Work and trading begin February 5th all over China.

Some people in the corridors of the CBN are about to cash out. Once they cash out, they will stop the manipulation.

Let's wait for the enemies of Nigeria that prefer to see the country in ruin. They will never be happy seeing the country make progress, to them negative news is supreme.
you guys are the real enemies of Nigeria not those that call you out or point to the nonsense you have turned this country into
You ,your yeye government and apologist are the real enemy of the country, you set the country back several years ,you expect people to clap for your incompetence, your reverse psychology can only work on timid and naive people

What happened to all the balablu noise from T-Pain about unifying the dollar rate across markets?

Is this how his hitting the ground running 20 months ago has resulted in worsening inflation instead of crashing prices as he promised?

World Bank offers Nigeria forex rate advice, as Tinubu eyes N200/Dollar rate[

April 23, 2023

The President-elect said he would work with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to *bring down the exchange rate to N200 in his first term.*

“My administration will collaborate with the Central Bank to harmonize the fiscal and monetary policy to achieve immediate stabilization of the value of the naira against the US dollars and other currencies and in the short term, strengthen the naira by boosting the supply of foreign currency and moderating demand.

“The short-term goal is to achieve a naira/dollar rate of 300 naira/US$ and gradually achieve a less than 200 naira rate over the next four years, Tinubu stated.

There’s nothing shocking here. We’ve heard and seen this happen time and time over. This is a window for those that know to buy dollars at lower price and sell for higher price in few weeks.

Politicians use the states revenue to do this.

Why are goods and services in Nigeria not reducing prices? I just don't understand
because nigerians, nigerian traders and businesses are as bad as the govt they criticise. If naira falls to 2000 per dollar, they will increase prices immediately
Re: Naira Rises To N1,493/$ In Official Market by Berankis: 10:09am On Jan 31, 2025
It is not the naira that is rising, but dollar losing some strength as a result of Trump's drastic policies.

Are you talking about the propagandist liar, Pandora Bitter Obi huh

bennybuhari:
“’I cannot take anything back about Obi. I said Obi said he wants to move Nigeria back from consumption to production and I said that is not true. He cannot do it because his own business survives on consumption. Is that a lie? He has been an importer and I said he deals with cash and carry economics; container economics, imports”.

“All the goods that can be produced in Nigeria, Obi imports them in his supermarkets. That is consumption economics. That kind of person cannot tell you that he is moving you from consumption to production. He will then be committing self-economic suicide and Obi will not do that to himself”.

“So, Obi is deceiving everybody and I can’t take that back because that is true.

What was the naira to dollar 💰 during General Abacha government?
Artificial good news.
Go to the bank they will tell you they don't have dollar's.
Go to the black market in Wuse, you will never get the naira at 1,493 to a dollar 💰.
If you doubt me, please post the address on social media where we can go and get dollar at 1,493.
Government is now number one in spreading of fake news.

grin but this is not the whole truth, because your government, financial and commerce sectors have not done enough to strengthen the naira. So it's appears naira is gaining but not truth, the dollar depreciated because of the deportations going on in the US. Workers not turning up for work, their production rate is fast coming down. The dollar will still experience a lot more depreciation before it will stabilize except this man - Trump halts some of this unpopular actions.

The crash was as a result of constant devaluation of the Naira. Remember sometimes in April last year the rate dropped to as low as 1000 to a dollar only to end the year at almost 1700. What happened to the gains?

It was also celebrated that it was gaining that period.

And it is #1,620 at the parallel windowhuh This country is just full of drunkards. Banks and CBN chiefs needs to be arrested, jailed and executed all at once.

Official rate at #1,493? Which will be sold to Bureau de Change operators to sell above #1,620 to the public? Everything about this country sucks to the highest heaven.

The question is, why operate two windows?
