These days i am beginning to wonder why everything is usually brought here. This is something very confidential. You will just go underground to investigate. The information the said person has shared here is not needed. Since you are an EU citizen. you have express entry to any european embassy.
Please let be guided with what we post here, these guys see everything. Go and make your investigations underground @racerve

Nice contribution Kel.
Can you clarify which part of my post is confidential?
Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by hunee: 8:37am On Feb 01, 2025
Bros, we dont need to know who and who sent you a mail concerning your application. I would never receive a mail from a consular or embassy and come here to share the content of that email and subject it to debate, especially if it is an ongoing visa application process which has not been finalised. I would never do that.
racerve:

I am just speaking on professional terms.
You inquire directly from the embassy or communicate to them by post.

We dont need the information here Ok. Thank you

Who made you gatekeeper?

Ignore the post if you can't give a helpful answer, and move on with your life. Is that hard for you?

Lol, una no go hear word until they hold one person application because of your fanaticism for social media. You want to post post everything, you think other people dont receive similar mails, why dont they post here. Dont learn to be discreet with your life, be posting everything here.

Oga, no one here works at the Consulate of France. If they send you a mail, you go there and inquire from them directly or you correspond via same channel. Let learn to do things properly. I have nothing against you. I wish you the best.

Gurus in the house, I’m hoping someone can help me clarify an odd situation with my wife’s visa application.

I'm an EU citizen currently based in Nigeria, and we're applying for a short-stay visa for my wife.

She submitted the application a couple days ago, and we just received an email from the french consulate asking her to contact the "embassy lawyer" to authenticate our Nigerian marriage certificate (see the attached pics below).

After reaching out to the provided contact, the supposed lawyer has sent an invoice of 350k for authentication.

I'm pretty sure this is a scam, but the original email came from a legit address. Her application status on the TLS website still shows In Progress.

Has anyone received a similar request before?
Have you contacted the embassy if this is from them?

That's the first step

since it a direct email from the embassy as seen from your screenshot kindly follow the process, I don't think it a scam
Why should he not enquire first from the embassy?

I'm not sure I've heard this before

I've seen someone with a similar enquiry here about two years ago, not sure how that was resolved.

Here's my observation:- The use of English as captured in the email gives me strong reasons to doubt it's authenticity.

Secondly, Embassies' legal counsels have their offices within the Embassy or Consulate, and not at a different address. Moreso, authentication of Government issued documents are done by the issuing authority - in your case, the Ministry of Interior.

I'll suggest you find the Embassy's telephone number or authentic emails on the website to verify.
Asking us to contact a gmail address was suspicious, but once they sent that invoice we knew this couldn't be legit.

I've sent everything to the embassy.

Wait for them to revert.

This is extremely strange and invoice should not be the first, but telling you how they can help first and thereafter send bill

Worst is it is genuine and they confirm it? Or it is genuine and they claim he didn’t pay the money and they deny him and he will apply again.
Let’s stop this attitude of fear.
Did you see his name there or what is the confidential information?
You don’t think we as fellow applicants ought to see this and be aware and take precautions if it also happens to anyone else applying from Nigeria?

Discreet with suspected fraud? Involving a consulate?
Something that should be on news and be exposed so that the people involved can be fished out. But first he has come here to ask if we see what he sees and if he is wrong.

You are the one that knows where you see people that receive these kind of letters.
I have never received suspicious emails after a visa application asking for money to be paid neither have other people I know. And if I did, I will come here and post. As a warning and to get advice.
When my brother married an European sef, all we needed as per verification was done at the Federal Ministry in Abuja.

Same way we post refusal letters on Canada and Uk thread and PPR letters for Canada and interview excerpts on US threads. How is it this one that is now private.

Unfortunately for Schengen visa no clue.

For UK, if Yiu get such a mail only from VFS without another mail from UKVI, then without collecting your passport you would have known that the visa is granted.

For Schengen, they always attach refusal letter inside the envelope and you can't know until courier delivers your passport
