Kids never forget - Parents, be careful out there! by Nnamdipapa(op): 11:53pm On Jan 30, 2025
Connie Zastoupil, mother of Quentin Tarantino, issued a brief statement to USA Today reacting to this week’s viral revelation that Tarantino vowed not to give her “a penny” of his fortune after she berated him for writing screenplays in school.

Tarantino appeared on a recent episode of Brian Koppelman’s “The Moment” podcast and told a story about how his teachers viewed his screenwriting in class as “a defiant act of rebellion.” When the school notified his mother, she sided with the school and yelled at her son. Tarantino made a vow not to give her any of his fortune should he become a famous screenwriter. He was 12 yr old at the time.

Tarantino said on the podcast that his mother had “a hard time” with his “scholastic non-ability,” so she wasn’t too happy with him when she found out he was spending time in class writing screenplays instead of paying attention to his teachers.

“She was bitching at me about that and then in the middle of her little tirade, she said, ‘Oh, and by the way, this little ‘writing career,’ with the finger quotes and everything. This little ‘writing career’ that you’re doing? That shit is fucking over,’” Tarantino said. “She meant you just can’t do that in class when you should be doing something else.”

Tarantino retaliated by making a promise to himself: “When she said that to me in that sarcastic way, I was in my head and I go, ‘OK, lady, when I become a successful writer, you will never see penny one from my success. There will be no house for you. There’s no vacation for you, no Elvis Cadillac for mommy. You get nothing. Because you said that.’”

When asked if Tarantino stuck to his vow, the director responded: “Yeah. Yeah. I helped her out with a jam with the IRS. But no house. No Cadillac, no house. There are consequences for your words as you deal with your children. Remember there are consequences for your sarcastic tone about what’s meaningful to them

Quentin Tarantino says he hasn't given a penny of his Hollywood fortune to his mom — and it's all because of a harsh comment she made to him when he was a kid.

The renowned director, whose net worth is an estimated $120 million, opened up about his childhood promise to never give his mother any money from his Hollywood success during a July appearance on the podcast "The Moment with Brian Koppelman."

Though Tarantino, 58, said he knew he wanted to pursue a writing career from a young age, he struggled in school, something his mother, Connie Zastoupil, "always had a hard time about."

The moral of the story is to be careful how we parent's treat our kids because they never forget.

12 yr old cannot hold a swear till he grows up unless mumsi was still cursing him even after he had grown up.

You are wrong, kids don't keep malice, their brains are not mature enough to process and digest informations to arrive at logical conclusion. Kids can lie, can be bitter sometimes, can act on what their parents told them but can never keep malice or being revengeful except they are kept under perpetual abuse.

This particular one is probably being treated with disdain by his mum upto to the time he became a full grown adult.

Nah, you're wrong on this. They are certain experiences that never leave the minds of kids, especially domestic abuse

Nah, just an ordeal can stay in a kid's mind. As a parent(especially father), on a rare occasion, try and apologise to your kids for the wrong you did, that they may still remember. Your ego may not permit you to get the feedback from asking them that 'if there's anything wrong I have done based on what I taught you' question.

You are yet to meet a demonic kid, I suppose.

He says he hasn't shared his 'Hollywood fortune' with his mom. However, he must have shared his other income sources with her. By the way, the guy looks like someone that doesn't forgive. I pity his spouse, that is if he has one.

Lolz, are you married with kids?

Because I don't understand you anymore. You discipline your children out of love to laid a good foundation for them and not out of mere wickedness. Every kid grown up to understand the importance of discipline by their parents, especially when they start seeing the result of that discipline in their lives or when they start having kids too.

The only evil you can do to your kids that may make them not to easily forgive you is by not giving them enough care and education when they truly know you can. Another one is imposition of a particular thing on them, when they've mature enough to know what is good for them.

Only an evil child or bastard would grown up to revenge a mere discipline on their parents.

Correct!

And if he is not evil then it means that the parents have been doing something evil since which the child still grew up to find that the act was evil, hence he must revenge, as they say.

One of my teacher in primary school, Mrs. Akimbo, offended me when I was less than 10yr old and I will carry the grudge all my life.

One day, she stopped me on the road and shouted " hahan!, what did I do to you that you never greet me"

how many tarantinos, bill gates, john carmacs etal had their dreams destroyed by ignorant and unsupportive parents?

that is the lesson here

you may not understand that obsession, your kid has, but that does not mean you should shit all over it and break your child's spirit

a lot of successful people had some level of parental support or at least encouragement of their silly ideas - even if their parents had no idea what to make of them

if tarantino was not a very very very stubborn guy we would never have gotten pulp fiction, reservoir dogs, inglorious basterds, kill bill etal

Was the act evil? If no, then it means that you are one of the many children of Satan (I am not trying to insalt you oo just describing you and where you come from) for these kind of children never forgive nor forget those who gave them pain.

My own is Mrs Ezemba since Nursery school that is like 5 or 6 yrs and I can see I don't like her but I don't remember why, yet I am happy to see her and greet her when I run into her.

My mother's own is even worse, even last 2 weeks she joined my uncle and client to unreasonably attack me over an issue that I can do nothing about because The Law Says so. Meanwhile I brought her in to advocate for me. Yet she turned and blasted me.

I have not yet spoken to her but the pain has passed and by next week we might be gisting again (save that the same issue has just occurred again this evening in another matter, so wahala)

But all these will pass and I will still relate with these people.

It was like being tribalist towards me and I felt humiliated.

I was having a quarel with a classmate and the teacher instead of settling our quarel shouted " you this Ibo boy, you are always causing trouble" the tone was degrading and it was blatant tribalism to me, I held it against her.

I never expected that from a teacher and that was primary three.

One of the most infamous killers in Japan was a 14-year-old who viciously tortured his classmates eventually decapitating one of them. The internet is filled with stories of children who committed the most unspeakable of crimes against their peers, some against their own parents. But here you are pissing down our backs with tales of how children are incapable of malice, and not mature enough to process information or plan murders? 🙄🙄🙄🙄

There are two things that constitutes behavioural pattern in a child;

1. Genetic composition.
2. What a child is expose to in it immediate environment.

A child mind is pure, null and void, it knows nothing other than what it expose to and innate attitude inherited generically. That says, whatever a child does are not independent out of what he inherited or expose to. Their minds are like plain papers, they do whatever you write there or they see from their immediate environments.

A child can't be evil withiout being born by evil parents or grandparents . He can't be evil withiout being expose to evil thought or items.

Peer pressure or poverty do affect a child later in life but his/her foundation before this stage will significantly limit the impact on him/her.

But there were many more after that. Ok maybe it's value is because she was your first. I know the feeling especially when added to the not just is of judging you guilty without even hearing the matter.

However, I believe you should have seen very many injustices thereafter done both to you and to others, so this should have reduced your pain, with of course you transferring the pain to fact that people are so.

Especially if you remember that you too have done the same.

See, you have stated what I said earlier. It is only children born of Satan who do not naturally forgive.

And forgiveness does not make you vulnerable. You are vulnerable because you are vulnerable.

Even armoured tanks and submarines have their vulnerability.

Everything in life has it's place of vulnerability so vulnerability is a part of life.

Did you accept your cheating wife's repentance when you were throwing her out in punishment? No!

So, you are have not spoken reasonably.

So, it is settled you are a child of Satan and you are keeping in tune of that nature, so you can vex on and continue your never forgiving anybody. But it is not out of place to note that people have indeed observed that a lot of your people are like you, and many have learnt to avoid them. So no problem.
