Even abroad, people still dropout from any and every level of education till today.

Changing the system won't sanitize the sector.

Addressing the reasons for high dropouts and out of school kids remains the way forward.

You don't address a foundational or structural issue in a building by repainting and renaming it.

The American system is structured into elementary (nursery to primary/grade 6), junior high (grade 7 - 9), & senior high (grade 10-12), thereafter college.

This is not different from 6-3-3-4 which is not a problem with the educational sector. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this structure.

Our education system should give compulsory room for vocational training, tech skills etc. The world is changing and our educational system should be adjusted to fit into the new world. Let's do away wit our archaic and precolonial system of education.

The future is tech. AI is taking over. Acquiring a tech skills should be a must in our educational system.

Years back I had to talk some sense into my young bro who wanted to study mechanical engineering " the same course I graduated wit but nothing to show for it and I had to switch profession". I told him to go for software engineering or cyber security. After all the argument he took my advice and now a graduate of software engineering from FUTMINNA and his his doing so well for himself and the family.

After chopping books like Engineering Drawing with Worked Examples, by F. Pickup and M.A. Parker, and graduating wit a 2.1, I still ended up changing profession.

What you're doing is merely reshuffling classes, which doesn't change anything.

After trying everything to no avail, Malaysia then realized that the problem wasn't class structure but that their native Malay language must be used for knowledge acquisition.

Once they returned to learning in their native language, the problem was solved.

Just learn from Malaysia. Go and read up a little about education in Malaysia

When a child is enrolled under 6-3-3-4, he can stop his education either at the end of 6, or 6+3, or 6+3+3 or 6+3+3+4. Government aims to eliminate a child getting a 6yrs or a 6+3years Education which is worthless in today's standards. A compulsory 12years makes every child more valuable, then an additional 4years (if he so wishes).

PS: I witnessed this very type of Grade 1-12 system when i worked in an European country as an English teacher.. I tell you its truly a brilliant system, allows students to fully develop academically and hands-on skills.

I was greatly impressed.

From my little understanding, this is akin to a division 8 team playing Barcelona FC. 4-3-3, 4-5-1 or any either formation would not save them. All these change in policy is cosmetic with little or no improvement. They've been harping on including vocational education in our curriculum, how far about that? The real issues are not being addressed.

What we need is total overhaul of curriculums right from nursery to tertiary institutions.... Most of the contents of our curriculums are already outdated and useless
