At about 10:58pm yesterday, my dog barked just once, i was surprised because i just left the sitting room. I woke up this morning to see this long black snake lying dead in my sitting room outside door.
My dog couldn't stand up nor eat. But i have taken her to my vet doctor for treatment.
Please what is the name of this snake and does it have deadly venom?

I am so worried about your dog, this snake is either a mamba or cobra and they are very deadly, I just hope your dog wasn't bitten by it. Your dog needs urgent specialized medical attention

That's an African spitting cobra. Highly venomous and wicked. Must have bitten your dog.
For the record, it's good and delicious meat too 😋😋🍖

Even the Dog that killed the snake is a special meal to a certain ethnic group of naija.....

Some even make pepper stew out of snake meat in Naija.......Ehen, see one of them above me now.

This is a baby cobra, check the stripes around the snake. I'm even watching it on Natgeo wild now, Bland mambas don't have stripes for those saying. Your dog already got bitten that's why it couldn't stand nor eat. I pray it survives and keep us apprised.

Looks like a black necked spitting cobra

Nothing concern with wether a snake is poisonous or not, anywhere you see them, behead them asap.

Definitely not a mamba. Looks very much like a cobra.

How is your dog still alive is what surprised me

Your dog is as good as dead without proper vet intervention.

The only animals that can come out unscathed in a fight with this snake is a cat (faster reaction time) honey badger (immunity to venom) and the mongoose (immunity to venom).
