I don’t know how factual this is. Some say once it spoils that’s it, others say parts are expensive and can only be gotten in Lagos. And others say it has a very common issue because it’s an electric car. Also, a few say only a few mechanics in Nigeria can fix it. I’m not sure how true all this is but I’ll really like to know. I have decided that is what I would get but all this information are new and its making me want reconsider my choice.

All the information you need is on the Hyundai group on FB and Reddit, there you'll find lots of lamentations from those who still owe thousands of dollars on the cars, those Hyundai cunningly denied Engine replacement, those who are on their third free engine from Hyundai and those who are asking for a good lemon law lawyer to sue Hyundai. The common denominator among these wailers is they bought an Hyundai or Kia model from 2011 when Hyundai started making their own Theta engines.
Hyundai is supposed to replace the engine for the lifetime of the vehicle if one shows proof of timely and proper oil change, paperwork, somehow some people who claim to have had the engine quit on them suddenly on the road without warning even as they have serviced it in time were denied the free engine replacement, others get the free engine (mostly remanufactured) and even loaner cars pending engine replacement.
You are in Nigeria and not buying it new or certified pre-owned, these cars look good but Hyundai didn't get the theta engines right.
I have a 2009 Hyundai sonata V6, mpi lambda engine, it is super rugged, fast and I'm completely satisfied, no troubles at all, my landlord who owns two Toyotas visits the mechanic way more than myself 🫢, in two years I have only done ATF replacement once (i just felt like it), my engine oil replacement (conventional mobil 5W30) is done twice a year, engine shorting oil and all of that has never been an experience of mine, now I get 17mpg in the city, 25mpg highway (AC on always of course) and that's fair, no overheating even if I drive with AC on from Osun state to Maiduguri.
The 2009/2010 isn't bad looking, stop looking at models after that, this particular sonatas are known to go over 300,000 miles with original engine and trans, the only issue you can have here in Nigeria is that many mechanics do not know what to do with Hyundai/Kia vehicles, one couldn't locate my oil filter the other day 🫢, parts can be harder to get compared to Toyotas, but way easier if you're in Lagos or know your way with AliExpress 😏, my car has had the abs light on for a while and the reason is it says the right wheel speed sensor is bad, tried more than 5 Tokunbos, ordering one on AliExpress fixed it, one of the springs on the master switch window control broke and I had to also order it from AliExpress, everything didn't take longer than two weeks though.
In summary, the theta engines are most likely to make you lose weight and get bitter or even begin to make you think a witch is after you, especially because it is your first car 😂, myself and anyone who knows Hyundai/Kia vehicles very well will tell you to look at cars before 2011, won't be too costly, satisfying, rugged, and have your eyes on the V6 not the weak i4.
If you want something newer sort of, then look at another brand, Toyota, Honda etc, congratulations.
