Mass Resignations Hit Nigerian Community In UK Amid Corruption Allegations by chopnaira(op): 7:45am On Feb 08, 2025
The President of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom on Twitter (X), Mr Benjamin Kuti, aka Oluomo of Derby, has decided to step down from his role as the leader of the community.

The social media group is made up of over 75,000 Nigerians many of whom are in different parts of the UK and sometimes hold offline meetings and celebrations.

Oluomo of Derby quit as the president of the community after a barrage of criticisms from members following the running of the group and handling of finances.

Aside from Kuti, other group leaders also revealed their intentions to step down from their posts.

Among those who were affected were DHK Rullah

Oluomo of Derby, who founded the group, and other leaders wrote on Thursday about the decisions to tender their resignations via their respective X pages.

Mr Kuti, in his post, said he would be glad to hand over to the next elected leader, adding that he took responsibility for all that went down in the community.

“I take full responsibility for the turn of events over the years, and the current unsettling state of the community,” he wrote. “I will be stepping down as a moderator and all posts made with the official handle will be at the approval of the NEB.”

“I regret my lack of absolute accountability and transparency to the community and to this end, I have carefully thought the following decisions through in the interest of furthering our community’s goals.”

He added, “I am happy to hand over the presidency of the community to the next elected President at the chosen time of the community to conduct its elections. However, as the founder of the community, will remain a PSC of the company.”

Also, Ayinde said he had resigned from his position as a volunteer consultant.

He added, “The executives/directors are responsible for preparing the financial statements that give a true and fair view of the state of affairs and activities of the company/community.

Having completed the submission of the financial statements and tax filing for the community for the period of 22/11/2022 to 30/11/2023 and 1/12/2023 to 31/12/2024, I hereby tender my resignation from the volunteer consultant role with immediate effect as my job is now done!”

Rullah accepted his responsibility as he vowed to refund all the money he “received”.

“I want you to know that I take full responsibility for my actions. I understand that my mistakes have consequences and as a tangible demonstration of my commitment to making amends I am going to make full refunds of the total monies I received,” he said.

“This will be paid in installments back into the NIUK official account and can be confirmed by anyone when this is done. It is the least I can do to show my remorse and dedication to rectifying the harm caused.”

Allegations
Nigerians in the UK Twitter community had alleged financial infractions in the community’s operations and called on the leaders to be held accountable.

According to them, the expenditure moved from £9,440.41 in 2023 to £68,224.11 in 2024.

In the account balance posted, the community realised £36,035.55 for 2023 and £2,997.00 sponsorship/partnership and donations in 2024.

For the end of the year party in 2023, it spent £7,225.65, while it was £5,061.00 for 2024. It also quoted £5,350.00 for community support/donations in 2023, while £813.65 for the same in 2024.

Most of these gaps further drove the members to question the authenticity of the account balance.

For instance, one Ola Dayo on X asked, “How did expenditure go from £9,440.41 in 2023 to £68,224.11 in 2024?”

The member added, “Why is there a 2023 December end-of-year party expenditure in the 2024 account?”

He also demanded what constituted other administrative expenses as outlined in the account.

Another member, identified as Rire, who was disgruntled over the development, asked that the community account on X be deleted.

Due to the alleged malfeasance, some of the leaders have protected their posts, as members continued to demand answers about the released income and expenses account balances in the past two years.

Despite the resignation of some of the leaders, more members of the community were not satisfied as they questioned the sincerity of the decisions.

Yorubas are very good in entertainment, sports, music etc but I noticed they are not good administratively when it comes to money management which I am sorry to say but that has been my observation over the years

They have come to spin this take of a bunch of Yoruba men in the UK stealing and embezzling to pin it on we Obidients cry

cc seunmsg, I had to bring this post here for you and others like you to easily see wink

ElevationD:
Your comment gives you away as irresponsible. And you forgot that Tinubu told us all that not only do you grab power, but you must run away with it. Obidient movement in your myopia has become an “Igbo power grab agenda”. To you, power should only reside in your tribe.

You are the most shameless of all the tribalistic people on this forum. While ensuring that people are banned for tribal slurs, you are always at the forefront insulting Igbo people here, breaching the same rules that you pretend to protect.

“The President of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom on Twitter (X), Mr Benjamin Kuti, aka Oluomo of Derby, has decided to step down from his role as the leader of the community”.

Calling you a very big idiot should be the easiest thing to do. The post clearly does not mention Mr. Benjamin Kuti as the President of the Yoruba community in the UK, but the President of the Nigerian community in the UK.

Rather than face the issue of disgracing the country, you looked at it from the tribal angle, abusing Peter Obi/Obidients and Igbos. If not for foolishness, you should know that as the leader of Nigerians there, Mr. Benjamin Kuti is accountable to all, no matter the tribe and no one of them accused him of being a Yoruba man.

If not for foolishness on your part, you forgot that just as there were Yorubas who supported Peter Obi at the last elections, there were Igbos and citizens of other tribes who supported Tinubu and Tinubu was declared the winner.

Your hatred will not take away the fact that all are Nigerians and are treated as one abroad. No Yoruba man carries a Yoruba passport abroad, the same as those of other tribes. They all carry Nigerian passports, identifying them for who they are.

While you keep on with the business of banning people on this forum, you must ensure that you change your irresponsible ways, making this forum a decent place for decent people to hold decent conversations.
This guy finish work grin seun take note wink

Oluomo Olelomo of Derby is a very popular Peter Obi supporter. He’s one of the loudest leaders of the Obidient movement who waged war on Yoruba people and interest. He’s not an Omoluabi and we don’t recognize him as a Yoruba person. He’s an omo ale that has been disowned by the Yoruba community. Don’t ever link that fraudster to Yoruba people again.
IUnder which Law. You are not more Yoruba than another Yoruba person. He has freedom of association and that doesn’t change his identity or tribe he wants to identify with

Oluomo of Derby aka Olelomo is a typical example of what the Obidient movement represents. Irrational, incompetent, circuit and loud mouthed. The fact that all other Obidients rallied in support of him in the early days of the allegations says a lot about them. These are the useless cretins making so much noise about a new Nigeria when they are far worse than the people they are criticizing.

These are the criminals that surrounds Peter Obi. God forbid these set of people finds their way to political offices, they will bankrupt the country in less than a year.
grin grin

The criminals that surrounded darling daddy, where you among or not ?

The criminals supporting the Chicago fake certificate holder, are you not among ?

The criminals supporting rigging, snatching, grabbing & running away, were you not among ?

The criminals supporting corruption, tribalism, nepotism, bigotry & parapoism, were you not among ?

The criminals supporting a failed maladministration of Bullion van thiefs, were you not among ?

You want to call out corruption when you have no Moral to speak nonsense against the Obidients while you supported & still support the looting & corruption of your party & Allah?

You think shouting & crying ,telling lies against the Obidients because of your hatred will make you sensible & wash away the criminals you support ?

Hypocrisy lies & propaganda are incurable diseases

Oluomo became popular as an Obidient and a Peter Obi supporter. He never identified with the Yoruba people or Yoruba interest. Now that he has been confined to be a thief, he must remain an Obidient thief. You can’t start linking him to Yoruba people now that he’s in trouble when you never did that before.

Olelomo is an Obidient thief and he shall remain so.

He is first Yoruba before Obidients, or it is no more so ?

He is now first Obidients & then Yoruba in your hatred & gaslighting against Obidients

You did not condemn him as a Yoruba man & there is no way in the report that Obidients was mentioned. But yiu quickly came with deceptive Hypocrisy to throw propaganda all over the social media.

Will you have reacted like this if he was not an Obidient. If he was a MU-MU ticket defender of Apc, you would have definitely gone missing from the thread.

Mr man address the issue of mismanagement of funds by the Yorubas in the Uk & desist with shame trying to gaslight Obidients.

Hypocrisy

The ole omo of derby guy was a big obi supporter during election telling everyone how corrupt APC was.

If they had allowed these armed robbers called obidient near Nigerian Treasury, they would have been worse than abacha.

While they rule the entire country with iron fist because you won't be able to criticize them without the brainless mob attacking you and calling you a bigot.
