Alex Otti: Abia PDP suspends Board of Trustees Chairman, Adolphus Wabara by alcaptainero(op): 3:31pm On Feb 11, 2025

Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, over alleged anti-party activities.

Confirming the suspension in an interview with Enyimba FM, the state PDP chairman, Abraham Amah, stated that the decision was taken by the State Executive Committee (SEC) due to Wabara’s breach of party loyalty.

According to Amah, Wabara publicly endorsed Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti of the Labour Party, for a second term in office in October 2023—barely five months after Otti’s inauguration.

He described the endorsement as an act of sabotage against the PDP, bringing the party into disrepute.

Amah cited Chapter 10, Article 58C and F of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), which prohibits such actions and provides grounds for disciplinary measures under Article 59-1.

When asked whether the suspension was related to Wabara’s involvement in the ongoing controversy surrounding the national secretary position of the PDP, Amah dismissed such claims, insisting that the decision was based solely on Wabara’s actions.

He also explained that while the party had intended to take action earlier, Wabara had been on medical vacation on three occasions, delaying the process. However, the SEC deemed it appropriate to act now that he is available.

On why the suspension did not originate from the ward level, Amah clarified that the PDP Constitution empowers the SEC to discipline any member found guilty of infractions, irrespective of their rank within the party.

"The constitution provides multiple ways to carry out this type of duty," Amah stated, emphasizing the SEC’s authority in such matters.

However, i know the BoT will likely void same. His suspension must have to originate from his Ward.

wabara is always acting smart, he disregarded the stay of execution granted by the court of appeal in Samuel Anyanwus case and went ahead to pronounce ude okoye as chairman, lets see if he will also disregard an injunction restraining him from parading himself as PDP BOT chairman.

PDP was in power in Abia State for a consecutive 24 years, during which Abia rotted away.

LP flushed them out and fought its way in and began to.change the face of Abia and they're making noise?

PDP NWC Dismisses Purported Suspension of Party BoT Chairman, Senator Wabara

The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to the purported suspension of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of our great Party, Distinguished Senator Adolphus Wabara from the Party

The NWC categorically dismisses the purported suspension as null and void and of no effect whatsoever not being consistent with the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) and laid down Rules of our great Party.

For emphasis no State Working Committee has the power to suspend or take any disciplinary action against a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party without due recourse to the NWC as clearly provided under Section 57 (7) of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017)

Section 57 (7) is unambiguous in providing that; “Notwithstanding any other provision relating to discipline, no Executive Committee at any level, except the National Executive Committee, shall entertain any question of discipline as may relate or concern a member of the National Executive Committee, Deputy Governors or members of the National Assembly…”

The explicit import of Section 57 (7) is that the Abia State Chapter has no powers whatsoever to take any disciplinary action against the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara, being a member of the National Executive Committee of the Party.

The PDP therefore condemns the purported suspension of Senator Wabara as reckless, unconstitutional and cautions those behind this act in defiance of the PDP Constitution to retrace their steps as the NWC will not hesitate to take appropriate disciplinary actions to preserve the stability of our Party and the sanctity of its Constitution.

The NWC calls on all leaders, critical stakeholders, members and supporters of our Party in Abia State, the South East Zone and indeed across the country to disregard the purported suspension.

Your request cannot be granted by court. Other political parties will be seen by court as interloper in PDP domestic affairs.

Let's even forget the fact that a lot of party members have played grave anti-party prior to 2023,,
PDP can still let bygones be bygones for the sake of rebuilding and forming a formidable opposition to a disastrous central government...

But what do you do to and about a party member who has pledged and proved complete loyalty to Tinubu and APC,,
And has vowed to work for the re-emergence of Tinubu in 2027?

That is practically impossible. Ukwa PDP is against Ikpeazu and Wike hence this deed is dead on arrival. The SEC is trying to subvert the PDP constitution to create chaos in the PDP.

PDP SEC cannot suspend a National Officer of the party without a go-ahead order from the ward.
