How does one for example write a reasonable research paper on the “prevalence of multiple myeloma in sickle cell patients of child bearing age”? If you can’t use words like black, female, diversity, underserved, inclusion, bias etc. these a few of the DEI words they’re removing from funding database. If your research has any of those words, it’ll be flagged for review and possibly defunded.

A half decent publication has to include your exclusion/inclusion criteria for the population you’re studying. No?

Sickle cell is a predominantly black disease. And if we’re being honest, they’re typically from underserved communities where limited access to healthcare can be a factor.

Child bearing patients are female.

You can’t avoid listing what your possible biases were in the study and how you got around them.

Heck you can’t study any female specific cancers (breast, ovarian, uterine cancers) without those words up there.

So while he’s playing politics by placating racists and misogynists who think women and black people have taken everything from them, real serious damage is being done.

By the time he’s done messing up the system and we’re able to pick back up and continue from where we stopped (I hope we can) precious time is lost.
