I was given a responsibility of handling the inventory aspect which I will submit on an Excel format(which must include all pictures of the stock keeping unit of above 1000) I took my time to study the process and counted every stock and submitted. The company/shop did not have any primary data before now.

Towards mid January, while still on the excel, the wife brought one software which she said she want to use for sale and that I should continue uploading the items. I suspended the Excel and continued with the software. Her culture before now which I got from old staff was to use inventory officer to count her stock and sack them at the end of 3--month and she always get away with that since no appointments letter until end of 3month.

The wife now insist on not paying me January salary with flimsy excuses of not getting my report on time . Is that a valid reason? What should be the next line of action for me now that I don't have a letter of appointment?

In the first place, not giving him an employment letter or statement of employment in lieu of appointment letter is already offence number one.

If they don't want to pay you:
(1)Give out their phone numbers, let us keep them busy.
(2) If that is not enough,make that company uncomfortable online by telling every Tom,Dick and Harry online.
(3) VDM is there as a ratel.

If you are hired professionally and not given an appointment letter at resumption or before, do not take the job! There's virtually zero reasons not to have that letter ready and signed before work commences, this is a trait of dubious and wicked companies that wouldn't try such nonsense if they were abroad!

Get a competent lawyer to charge them to court for forcefully making you to work for them. Since you and your organization do not have a copy of an employment letter. To me it’s a good case. Let the court know that you’re forcefully threatened to work for them or they might bleeped someone up in your family. Show the court the evidence of work done. Also, fine a case of abuse. But, before you take this step allow your lawyer explain to them what you’re about to do.

Employment letter does not matter.
You can employ people verbally.
It is legal and binding.

Here is the general provisions of the law in quote:

"7. (1) Not later than three months after the beginning of a workers period of employment with an employer, the employer shall give to the worker a written statement specifying;" the details of the employment.

OP since someone had informed you that it is your madam's strategy to sack inventory staff after 3 months , you should work harder and try and give reason to see the value in retaining you beyond the 3 months mark.

Create more functions in your daily tasks that gives added value and all the while start to search for alternative employment to coincide with the end of your first 3months.

Change your midset to viewing the job as a 3 months contract job and if and when you are sacked leave the job on good terms with your employer that way you could still approach them to give you a good reference for any new job offer you receive.

Appointment letter should be before you step foot in the company.

It will contain all the terms of the contract to avoid stories that touch.

Not everyone appreciates hardwork from staff... I knw of a place were managers are sacked every eke market days... Its like seeking ideas from a craft man who gives u quotation n all dat, only for the person to ditch him n look for a cheaper craftman for job thereby using that idea he already gotten from the previous person

How can you accept a job without offer letter?

If you leave they won't pay you, they want you to work 2 months then they pay you for a month
