The groundnut oil business in Nigeria is a very profitable business. Because the demand for groundnut oil is growing in Nigeria and the investment cost of groundnut oil business is low. This article aims to shed light on the profitability of the groundnut oil business in Nigeria.
1. Growing Demand and Consumption

Groundnut oil, also known as peanut oil, is one of the most widely consumed cooking oils in Nigeria. With a steady increase in the country's population and a growing awareness of the health benefits associated with natural and unprocessed oils, the groundnut oil business in Nigeria has gained significant momentum.

Nigeria is the largest producer of groundnuts in Africa, accounting for about 25% of the continent's total groundnut production. Groundnut oil is an essential cooking ingredient in Nigerian households and has a high demand among food vendors, restaurants, hotels, and the food processing industry. The increasing population and urbanization further drive the demand for groundnut oil, making it a lucrative business opportunity.
2. Low Investment Cost

Groundnut cultivation is relatively low-cost compared to other cash crops, making it an attractive venture for small-scale farmers. The abundance of fertile land, adequate rainfall, and suitable climate in Nigeria facilitate groundnut cultivation.

The machines required for groundnut oil processing include groundnut cleaning machines, groundnut oil presses, groundnut oil solvent extraction machines, filters, groundnut oil refiners, etc. There are many options available in the market, and the cost of groundnut oil processing machines are different. You can choose according to your budget.

As a professional groundnut oil processing machines manufacturer, Henan DOING can provide you with professional advice. If you are new to the groundnut oil business in Nigeria, it is recommended to choose a small groundnut oil processing machine production line, which only requires a roaster, an oil press and a filter, and the cost is relatively low. For specific configurations of other medium and large-scale groundnut oil processing machines, please refer to the picture below.

3. Other Factors
3.1 Multiple by-products

Apart from oil extraction, other by-products, such as groundnut cake, can be used for animal feed and enhance profitability.
3.2 International market

The demand for groundnut oil is not limited to Nigeria but extends to neighboring countries and international markets. By meeting required standards and obtaining necessary certifications, entrepreneurs can tap into the export market, increasing their profit margins.

All in all, the groundnut oil business in Nigeria is profitable.

Very profitable ko?

I am sure you have never eaten Groundnut oil in your life.
I mean oil which is pressed from groundnuts.
If you have, tell me the brand name and the manufacturer in Nigeria since you say its very profitable.
All those half truths you are saying abt vegetable oil, there is no oil called vegetable oil even groundnut oil is vegetable oil.
When you read vegetable oil knowsay na Palm Oil.
Palm nuts will yield more oil per hectare than groundnut and if people are complaining that Palm oil is expensive, how many people can buy 1 litre of groundnut oil, I repeat when I say groundnut oil I mean oil that is pressed from groundnuts.
Do you know how many kg of groundnuts will give 1 litre of oil?
Do you know price of groundnut per kg?

FYI, 1 litre of groundnut oil produced locally in the North is around 8-10k.
How many people fit afford am inside dis economy?
Conclusion:
It's better to sell your groundnuts than to lose investment by processing groundnuts to oil, even including the sale of the residue cake.

I have a brand of original pressed groundnut oil but people do not really care.
You would see bleached palm olein or bleached palm oil in most of the brands vegetable oil in the market and which aren't healthy.
People just want to eat in Nigeria. No amount of zero cholesterol and high minimum saturated oil that reduces bad fat and cholesterol still interest customers.
I don't really blame those that package bleached or mixed oil to maximize profit. They understand the people.

Sorry I know i reply to post was in s haste, When Nigerians say buy groundnut oil, they most of the time referring to vegetable oils. I myself process palm oil and also take palm kernel nuts to factory for processing. My post was based on the products in the market we called groundnut oil and are derived from other vegetable sources that is not groundnut.

Every facility including the filter nets/taps like 6-8 lines and the capping machine for bottling incase you want to sell in small containers.

For the capacity I was told it can process about 20 bags of soybean a day or 50-60 bags of groundnut seed a day.

Groundnut oil is different from Palm olein.
The former is obtained from peanut aka groundnut and more expensive while the later is obtained from Palm-fruits bleached and de-odourized.

I don't get it. Do people really cook with groundnut oil? In my close to 4 decades of existence. I have only ate groundnut oil once and it doesn't taste the same as vegetable oil. Imagine adding groundnut or it's flavor to everything you cook. That's what it taste like when you cook with groundnut oil.
