DSS should devise another efficient process to recruit intelligent and smart people. Most first class in Nigeria University are just *Library _ *Class _ *Fellowship kinda students. They are not built for the Job and are not Street Smart However, some of them are religious and will resist bribery plus fight corruption if recruited. |

santaclaws:In the same cohort, there are equally very balanced and exceptional folks who hold first class from various fields. That's why it's a recruitment process. So it's still appropriate. |

having first class doesn't translate to having good IQ. there are people that naturally can think through peoples mind and process things faster in their head by seeing the future and motives and drawing lines of facts without even going to school |

DSS that can't burst bandits and kidnappers communications The DSS is too mediocre and politicised to need real first class brains |

I have always thought the smartest Nigerians should join DSS and other security intelligence agencies but they shouldn’t be compelled. First class students will be given priority but should not be forced to join. If you want to attract the smartest, offer the best financial packages with great working conditions. What DSS should do is have a graduate scheme where only first class students will be eligible to apply. They should then write an assessment test that basically test logic and IQ. Those with top scores should then be trained both locally and abroad in all sorts of security and operational tasks. We need the smartest Nigerians at DSS. We basically need them to think outside the box, be mentally agile and adaptive. They should be the best because they will have to ensure terrorists and criminal organisations, both domestic and foreign are exposed and apprehended. |

santaclaws:Your submission is pseudo-intelligent. As imperfect and even flawed as the Deputy Director's suggestion is, it will go a long way in sanitizing not just the DSS and other government security agencies, but also the entire government bureaucracy and public service. Having a "physically and mentally unfit" first class graduate in the middle and senior management (not lower enforcement ranks, of course) of these agencies would at least eliminate the current situation where unqualified idiots are sneaked into positions purely because of nepotism. There are many of these fools who finished with Third Class degrees, some even with fake/impersonated degrees, who are casually imposed onto these jobs without the requisite qualification, or even without having to write any aptitude tests or do proper interviews. It is inherently unfair and an abuse of the system as a whole. That is why things remain the way they are in this shithole of a useless country. If the current mediocre, third class idiots at the agency are that "physically and mentally fit" as you irritatingly purported, then why haven't they fished out and neutralized the kidnapping gangs and bandits holding Nigeria to ransom for years? With all the modern technologies that should make this easy peasy for smart operatives? Even among First Class graduates, there are physically fit and "Street smart" elements. The goal is to MERITORIOUSLY fill these important offices with the best of the best. Not with connected mediocres and bumbling idiots who happen to have a 'helper' in high places. Let's stop justifying rubbish. |

If we force 1st class graduates into DSS, then 3rd class will go into medicine and engineering? |

The Nigerian secret service is so full of unqualified people that I was only able to pick 3 people as qualified, out of more than a 100 people among them that they sent to monitor me for the past 5 years. It's also possible it's with a foreign secret service. I've noticed there are foreign secret services operating in this country without their knowledge. Just yesterday I saw them at Egbeda. They have no idea that I am the investigator of investigators. |

Fabrice07:Gerrard59 is right. There’s no where in this world where you can sleep ur way to having a 1st class. You know why? It means you have to sleep with every lecturers to have an A. Assuming you did 40 courses throughout ur 4yrs programs, it means you’re sleeping with an average of 30 to 32 lecturers, and in fact, no single lecturer handle a single course in Nigeria’ |

This is very poor suggestion. Most of the so called 1st class graduates manoeuvre their ways to obtain the certificate so they will be recruited in the secret service. |

| Re: First-class Graduates Should Be Forced To Join DSS, Says Deputy Director by Gerrard59(m): 8:51pm On Feb 13, 2025 |
irumole1975:Some of such people have never interacted with lecturers on a one-to-one level. First class students are the most scrutinised especially in their penultimate years. Lecturers can just decide give a far lower grade to scuttle one's chances for no just reason. So imagine coming across a tale that the student once bribed or slept with another lecturer or even a beautiful girl the lecturer might be eyeing or admire. My senior friend who now works with NNPC had lower than expected/usual grades in his final year simply because he was about to be the first non-indigene to convoke with a first class from the department. This wasn't known to a few lecturers until his final year's first semester. This means if he had a negative past as per bribery, the momentum to reduce his future grades would have been higher. Even students who sort from first year to final year aren't assured of 2.1. above 4.0 let alone to be a first class graduate. cc: Fabrice07 |

DimIsaac10:It's a stoopid opinion, nevertheless. Does he know any first class graduate who was exposed for bribery or sleeping with lecturers after or upon graduation? It's not possible ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. |
