Ibime:I don’t know about the UK but that’s what people thought about Trump too in his first term. “Surely that many people won’t vote for the well known New York City con man over a more qualified candidate just because the other candidate is a woman?” And sure they did. Even while he lost the popular vote then, it was astonishing to see how many people couldn’t get past we don’t want a woman president mindset. We often underestimate how people’s biases can erode their reason. I’ve heard it being called the normalcy bias. As a person you don’t want to cause yourself distress by thinking that there could possibly be that many racist or prejudiced people around you. So you dismiss it by saying surely that can’t happen. And then it happens and leaves you confused as to why such a huge number of people still harbor presumably archaic biases even to the point where they’ll vote against themselves to hold up those biases. I saw the videos of the attacks on black people in the UK. Would I be surprised if some of the same black people who possibly feared for their lives at that time still vote for the party behind the ideology that caused the attacks? No I wouldn’t be. |

Ibime:we are in the disinformation age we saw how people were hoodwinked into voting for brexit in the aftermath it was clear a large amount of people had no idea what the vote was actually about, what the outcomes were - o even teh truth about the nonsense farage posted on buses “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others that have been tried.”you are assuming people will think rationally when all that will happen is someone will push their buttons. right in front of us, trained auditors are defending this doge bs and elon musks outbursts. something that will get an entry level auditor sacked - broadcasting unverified information that will impact on their employers reputation as a competent organization |

PDPGuy:I remember a while ago there was an article about the government spending millions on study of shrimp in the ocean or something(can't quite remember). The right wing media was lambasting it. So, I looked up the study of the shrimp and was surprised that it had very long term practical applications esp. for the military of how things move in fluid motion in deep water. Just saying, somethings look and sound crazy, but always aren't. In this case, these cups are a "bespoke self warming mug that is used for heating liquids and beverages on very long service missions on a particular military airplane." (based on reddit). It seems these mugs have to plug into these planes for power and not interfere with the highly specialized electronics in these airplanes. Here is an article from that thread of someone trying to find ways to make it cheaper. https://www.travis.af.mil/News/Features/Display/Article/1566000/travis-developing-new-hot-cup-handle-design-could-save-air-force-thousands/ So, it's not just a coffee mug you can get at a grocery store. It has to be specially designed for each plane and tested to make sure it doesn't interfere with it. It may still be somewhat overpriced though, but there will be a lot of outrage before people look into why it may cost so much. |

I read about that too. Much like scientists often experiment on mice because they’re mammals. We can tell how things might affect us by how it affects them. Like the current popular weight loss medications (the glp1s) that have been found to reduce obesity at far drastic rates than any medications of their kind. Also now being studied to cure other problems like alcoholism and chronic kidney diseases. They have to test first on mice before proceeding to human trials. If you leave it to the right wing who only know how to propagandize, they’ll say the researchers are spending millions to help mice loose weight. IjeBos: |

IjeBos:most of this noise reminds me of project defense when a bunch of laymen will start challenging your costs me : this petrol station will cost 100 million aggressive layman : i can build a house for 30 million! your house has a driveway. you have three cars. you drive out to work and return each day. on average, you may drive over the driveway 8 times in a day so 3200 times in a year. and your biggest car is an suv. the use your driveway will see in a year, a high volume station will see in a week, maybe a few days. that is just one variable. the funny thing is all of this 'analysis' is just performative. all these agencies have existed for decades through democrat and republican administrations. EPA was established in 1970 by nixon CDC was established in 1946 FDA 1906 HHS 1953 now a techbro who is also a beneficiary of government grants, loans etc wants to shut this all down. |

cococandy: GloriousGbola:lol una no Sabi UK. There are 650 seats in UK. 107 are already off the table for Reform (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) who always vote for their National Independence parties or Labour. 73 are off the table in London Add Liverpool (die hard Labour), Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Leicester, Derby, Nottingham and half the seats are gone. As in no chance of picking up even 20% of the vote in any parliamentary seat in these Cities. We've not come to many other towns yet Then of the half the seats that's left we have die hard Labour and die hard Conservative towns. Even if they take Conservative votes there, they are going nowhere. Reform is dead on arrival. If they take more than 10 seats at the next election, it's been a great election. With Kemi leading the Conservatives, they could possibly do better and go up to 15. 30 is a number I will put my house on. |

| Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by bemeruca: 1:29am On Feb 15, 2025 |
Ibime:So polls cannot show how good reform is doing and if they are going to secure more seats? you don start oh Reform is on track to win more than 100 seats. they just past 200k members. the party has the momentum and we may see partnership with conservative |

| Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by bemeruca: 2:07am On Feb 15, 2025 |
Ibime:you said they won't even see 30 now you are saying 100 won't get them anywhere. you are all over the place. they are expected to flip 114 seats as labour continues to sink their chances increase. lets not forget labour will also lose seats to other parties. So tell me if the chance for them to lose power is not highly possible |
| Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by Ibime(m): 2:22am On Feb 15, 2025 |
bemeruca:I am using your numbers to show you the unlikelihood even if we use your numbers. UKIP (Nigel Farages previous party) polled 18% in a previous election and came up with one seat. All that happens is their vote will be like 10-30% across many seats but not enough to take the seat. What they do is dilute Conservative numbers and allow Labour a victory. All it takes is to change Kemi to an old boy Conservative and they'll abandon Reform and come back. 100 seats is not enough for you to be given mandate to seek partners to form Government. The party with most seats will be given that mandate which should be around 270 plus seats. Now the only party that will agree to partner Reform is Conservatives. But if Reform has 100 plus seats, guaranteed they took so many of them from Conservatives that Conservatives won't be the ones with 270 plus seats and the mandate to form a Government. That means if would likely be Labour, and every party except Conservatives and Reform will agree to form Govt with Labour. This includes Scottish National Party, Liberal Democrats., Welsh Party, Greens etc. Mind you I don't mind Reform as they are not a nasty party like American Republicans. They regularly sack party members caught making racist comments unlike Republicans and you could see during the riots that Farage was not down with the racists that made Apartheid Boy Elon Musk call for his ouster. |

Ibime:Labour has produced the worst prime minister in history. Starmer and the labour party are going down. How do you even compare what happened last time to what is going to happen in the future when the whole country is pissed with labour. You have to embrace reality sometimes. Now they are posting videos of them deporting illegal migrants. Why is that? Reform party and conservative are looking popular with immigration right? Conservative and reform are likely gonna have a deal to remove labour. The UK does not have only 3 parties. Reform and conservative are polling high. Labour is losing this. |
| Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by Ibime(m): 2:37am On Feb 15, 2025 |
bemeruca:According to X I guess How does Liz Truss compare to Starmer? Look, Conservatives were always going to be changed after 14 years in power and the inflation of 2021 to 2023. We are just happy that Starmer was in power at Labour when it came to their turn and not an extremist like Corbyn. Starmer hasn't done much wrong except not supporting your Tommy Robinson race riots. He is the first Prime Minister since my favourite Cameron to take the budget deficit seriously and is trying to plug that gap. In an alternative universe, you could have a Labour leader in power who is in hock to the Unions, anti-Jewish, spending money like a drunkard on Social Welfare etc. Starmer is doing none of that and is governing with fiscal integrity, not borrowing for popular policies and leaving the burden on future Prime Ministers. |

Ibime:are you sure you are in the UK? you don't even understand how dissatisfied people are with labour. 6 in 10 are not happy with the party. A whopping six in ten (61 per cent) people said they were 'dissatisfied' with the PM's track record — including more than a third (39 per cent) of Labour supporters.Only 27% approval and i believe it is the shariah community

| Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by Ibime(m): 3:01am On Feb 15, 2025 |
bemeruca:Nah it's people that want him to spend like a drunkard on social welfare They thought they were getting a real Labour Prime Minister after 14 years of Conservatives only to find he cares about balancing the books So his party people (social welfare labourites) don't like him, and of course he won't get any support from Conservatives, hence he won't poll well on both sides But he's an honest man who's ready to damn the consequence and balance the books even if it harms his electoral chances. My only beef with him is his Green policies agenda. |
| Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by bemeruca: 3:10am On Feb 15, 2025 |
Ibime:the bold is contradictory. He claimed to be something else and they voted him only to see he is a POS but you said he is honest after saying he deceived people. |
| Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by Ibime(m): 3:18am On Feb 15, 2025 |
bemeruca:Nope. People vote Labour when they want freebies from Govt and that's their expectation. But he has integrity not to put the future of the country at risk to satisfy them. He is more fiscally conservative than all Prime Ministers since Cameron or maybe Theresa May. He found a £20 billion black hole in the finances unaccounted for and said he will not be following through on typical Labour agendas, na why them dey vex. That's leadership, not populism. He doesn't look like the kind of person that wants power for power sake. He just wants to do the right thing financially, if you like or you no like, e no consign am. He is happy even with one term so long as he does the right thing. Mind you nobody has good favourability here cos there are too many parties

bemeruca:Nonsense. Nobody votes Labour when they have immigration concerns |
| Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by bemeruca: 3:37am On Feb 15, 2025 |
Ibime:Well, that was one of the reason they voted him since Boris and others were messing up so they skipped Farage and move to labour, since all these parties have been given and chance and they burn the public, Reform is now looking a lot appealing |
| Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by Ibime(m): 3:38am On Feb 15, 2025 |
bemeruca:Nonsense. He sacked all the anti-Semites in his party including former party leaders. If you say PIM about the Jews, he sacks you. He is strongly pro-Israel. You racists in the American far-right are just angry because he did not join in mob action against Muslims, expecting a Prime Minister to behave and speak like a common tout. You guys are so racist, you even called for sack of Nigel Farage for not joining in your mob action. |

IjeBos:A line from Mode9's rap track called "Contradictions". He employs paradoxes in each bar that sort of make sense given the whole theme. "Heaven knows I'm as nice as Hell" - an example of a line from the lyrics. He ends the song by saying what I posted above which is funny if you think about it. The paradox ended even though he claimed it never would. Anyways I digress. You were contradicting yourself. That was my point. ![]() |

Android17:Gotcha. You had no point. Probably waited for a while to be able to say that so you can then write this post. A useless post because a contradiction is not a paradox. But that leads me to this. Your posts read like someone who tries too hard to seem "smart". It reads like you don't even understand the words you use. Even this one. Intelligence comes naturally, it shouldn't sound forced. Pax. |
