Fine is not new in that sector. Their staff will sabotage it. Some collect N50k upwards. During general enforcement exercise it may be difficult to pocket such money. They have terrible staff, some of them during installation of meters will tell the house owner that they can help them do bypass. Yet, the same will sell them out much later. Bypass will reduce significantly by installing meters on the electricity polls.
It would be at this point you record them and post them online to teach others a lesson! We as people need to do something about it.

Apparently this young chap has not heard of the term...two wrongs do not make a right.

Nigerians, politicans and even poor people included, have been looting electric power for years without payment.

As a result, we cannot have power 24 hours a day.

The reason why we don't have power is simple. We do not pay the market rate for power, and in most instances, many do not even pay for power at all.

As a result, problems start, and have been there.

As for your corrupt politicans, anytime an attempt is made to prosecute a TInubu, Buhari, GEJ or even Obasanjo, and many others, protests erupt on the street, and the national order is placed under threat.

SO, stop complaining, and pay your power bills.

The contrarian.

They are d cause of it! They think everybody is scared of electric current. I remember last year when I had to go their office twice a day for 3days straight just for them to just come n check why d code there where giving is been rejected, yet they kept posting me like university lecturers. I got angry showed them that I can do that bypass more than their technicians! I enjoyed it for one week. They latter came but couldn’t even detect the bypass!
Anyway I don buy Solar I don’t even notice their services in d neighborhood.

All our government knows is how to come out with policies that will make the life of citizens difficult, before you call it stealing as yourself can a man who has a wife and a child survive on the minimum wage 70000 a month ?

What the difference between post-paid and estimated?
gulfer:
Everything is skewed against the consumer in Nigeria, there's never been any penalty for estimated billing and non provision of meters (prepaid and postpaid); even non adherence to their own SLAs etc. Just look at every type of consumer services provided in the country undecided undecided undecided

What fine is being imposed on them for deliberately not restoring power and issuing bills for people to pay for power they didn't use?

With this band A 80% of Nigerians business with die today if they curb energy theft!
Stable light suppose to be a thing of joy but it’s an agony for businesses in Nigeria because of purchasing power of consumer.

OK, minimum wage is very small
Therefore your advice is 'steal' abi

A poor man who is truly poor will not consume a lot a power and therefore will not need to pay much when he is using a prepaid meter

He can use fan instead of AC
No business with washing machine, Electric cooker etc
Live within your means. Poverty is not an excuse to steal

And what are they themselves doing ? Reaping us off! Which is worse than stealing.
I am using prepaid and they are not reaping me off
.My meter does not read when there is no light

Therefore epileptic power supply does not translate to reaping off. If you are tired of their inefficiency, you can go off grid or find other means

You go explain taya as no evidence.
How many people have technical experience to bypass without connivance with the staff? Infact some of the times those guys approach people with high bill complaints promising to help them bypass while they give them money in return.

The postpaid meter gives you a reading which you can compare progressively but with estimated billing you're given any amount as your consumption for a particular period undecided

Those asking what of politicians? If you like go and steal and when they catch you, ask that question

If you don't pay your bills, how will discos pay gencos and how will gencos pay gas producers

Irrespective of the corruption in the system, learn to live a life of integrity, never bypass your meters. If you don't have money to recharge often, stop using ACs and other heavy power consumption equipment.

Live within your means.
You just stated the pure fact my brother. I tell people that you don't need to be a Pope John Paul to display some level of integrity.
I can tell you that even in the estate where I reside and electricity is supplied by a private firm, so many people still bye-pass their meter.

The irony is that those of us who recharge an average of 35,000 monthly cannot use our A/C as we would have loved to while those that are not paying anything enjoy their A/C to the fullest.

There should be grave punishment for offenders.

I have a target usage in my house
On ACs cool the room, off AC, use the fan. Repeat when the room start getting hot. Switch off any light not in use. All my appliances are energy savers

I wish any one caught bypassing will be made to pay x10 of what they stole

Do you use AC in your household and kitchen appliances (blenders, rice cookers, air fryers)? I recharge almost 10k in a week. Hanhan! I had to install solar panels and inverter batteries I use during the day and switch to electricity at night to power the AC.

I have airfryers but i don't really use it. I use AC, once room gets cool over to fan
No heaters whatsoever

I do more than 10k weekly, because of the size of the house
