A wedding in Bauchi State turned into a scene of mourning after a tragic accident claimed the lives of the groom, Abba Musa, and the bride’s elder sister, Maryam Suleiman, just few moments before the ceremony.

The fatal crash was said to have occurred in Boto, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.

The victims were reportedly en route from Murno, a village about 5km away, when the accident happened.

Saminu Boto, a brother of the groom, confirmed the incident to our reporter Tuesday, “It’s an unimaginable loss. The entire community is mourning,” he said.

The bride, Raihanatu Suleiman, is said to be inconsolable over the devastating loss of both her husband and sister on what was meant to be her happiest day.

Family and friends, who had gathered for a joyous celebration, were instead left in deep shock.

Both victims were laid to rest shortly after the accident in accordance with Islamic rites.

Just 5 kilometres away?

A 5km drive that should take 5 minutes at 60km/hr.....yet the crash was fatal.......the speed was much higher, without a doubt.

Funny, a car moving that distance at 100km/hr will arrive just about 2 minutes earlier.

Dying to save a couple minutes?

Totally not worth it, no matter the circumstances.

Pls forgive me if I sound so callous, but......the difference between an embarrassing fender bender and a fatal car crash is speed.

Sad. Looks like the car got rear ended. Guess both were in the back seat. Much safety protection for front crashes but very little for rear end. Head rests are not for comfort and relaxation but to prevent the head from snapping back in case of rear end crashes.

It's a Camry muscle again. Similar to recent ghastly accident in Akwa Ibom.

I remember the acceleration error recall for 2009 - 2011 Camry when the cars just start picking up high speeds and the brakes don't slow the car anymore. It led to loss of lives back then. I hope it's not this fault that's causing these accidents today.

I think the car lost control and somersaulted. Look at the front of the car.....that's a serious impact. It went off the road, hit an embankment or something, somersaulted and landed on the rear end.
