Since IBB book launch Gen Z has been looking confused like a goat that just tasted kai kai Indeed, they were still in their fathers scrotum, some where still in their fathers father scrotum. When this coup happened. Summarize evrything in 12 seconds Some Senior Officers in Military Government want to run a Coup to overthrow The head of state and make Dr Obafemi Awolowo the president of Nigeria. These Senior officers were from the South West region. The are the first masterminds to the coup. But they needed someone with a heart of a lion to execute this coup. That lion was no other than General Kaduna Nzeogwu. He agreed to be the face of the coup and carry out the teams goal to achieve the coup. But When the coup became unsucceful Nzeogowu realized that those south west senior officers had started chickening out of the coup idea. They betrayed Nzeogwu and made it seem like Nzeogwu was the grand architect of the coup. Had the coup been succesful the south west will celebrate those senior officers as heros. In Summary General Nzeogwu was betrayed and since he was igbo. They spunthe narrative that it was an "igbo" coup. IBB said it as it is Because IBB was part of the senior officers that refuse to be part of it. He knows the south west officers that were the architcet of the coup but later blamed it on Gen. Nzeogwu and they ran away leaving Nzeogu to face the consequence. It was not an igbo coup Yorubas created the idea Gave it to a fearless igbo to execute When the coup didnt go well The 2 faced yoruba cowards ran away and blamed the igbo general as the mastermind of the coup |

I hate to burst your bubble but there is NOWHERE in IBB’s book that he said that the coup of January 15th 1966 was NOT an Igbo coup. In fact he alluded to the contrary when he said the coup had taken on an “unmistakable ethnic coloration”. Those that have misinterpreted his words and have said that he wrote that the coup was not an Igbo coup are either misguided and misinformed or are being mischievous. The facts are clear and they are as follows. 99% of the officers that planned and executed the Jan. 15th 1966 coup and that were involved in the mutiny were Igbo and 99% of those that were murdered by them were non-Igbo military officers and political leaders in some cases including their wives. The coup was UNMISTAKEABLY an Igbo one and IBB made this very clear when he wrote about its “ethnic coloration”. FEMI FANI-KAYODE. |

Saturnalia:Femi Fani Kayode father was amongst the senior plotters. Femi is a son that will always defend his father even if his father raped a cow. Femi will still defend him |

The 1966 coup is like saying 2022/23 Obidient movement is not an Igbo movement simply because there are a pockets of other tribes in the movement. You can imagine how it all turned out, for example Lagos which Obi came first. The chest beating of Igbos in mockery of even the Yorubas who stood side by side to vote Peter Obi. Which ever perspective anyone may want to look at it. The 1966 coup was an Igbo coup. The only reason why Igbos don't want to associate themselves with the 1966 coup is because of how it ended up as an humiliation. |

DeeScan:like i said IBB was consulted for advice for the coup by the south west senior officers. IBB decided not to be part of the coup. Simple |

Rubbish. One of those who planned the coup wrote a book on it titled “why we struck”. The other decision makers died before they could tell their story. This surviving member (Ademoyega) wrote his book to set the record straight because of the inaccuracies and outright lies published by people who were far from the inner circle of the coup plotters. People like Obj. Now Babangida admitted that his views cannot be relied upon since he witnessed the coup from afar. But he still went ahead to write his distortion because he knew it would stir up controversy. Another mischievous inaccurate account of the coup was written by Achebe. He couldn’t even mask the bias in his story. If you need an authentic account of the planning of the coup, it is best to read from the only member of the inner circle who survived the war. |

Softmirror:@ the bolded, the contrary is actually accurate. I will explain... The Obidient Movement, just like the 1966 Coup, was intially never an Ibo-only Movement! Both were actually a Pan Nigeria Movement which later got hijacked by the Ibo people simply because Iboman/officers were the key players! This, in all fact and figure, is what IBB means when he alludes to the Coup as, "taken a tribal colouration" That some people misinterpreted the General's words is either due to lack of comprehension or deliberately mischief! |

SporaD8:No matter your explanation even with statistics. The Obidient movement started and ended up as Igbo pride. |

SporaD8:There are so many perspectives to it. But the most accurate is that it was an Igbo coup. Did you read where IBB assumed Nzeogwu as just bearing the name but that he is 'Hausa'?! This assumption alone, if in anyway correct should have reflected in the officers that participated in the coup, having Hausa/Fulanis as co coup plotter because of how Nzeogwu is being projected as Hausa and not even Igbo but he surrounded himself with his blood brothers. |

it was an Igbo coup there I said it, Yoruba are not cowards. Na Igbo man start am, and now them face the North- is it yoruba or Igbo who was killed on the counter-coup? the counter-coup was brutal and many Igbo soldiers were killed unfortunately. It is like saying the Holocaust was not caused by Germany but it was the Russia that did so |

SultanOfAbia:And his father got arrested. Shior. Fani Kayode who is the Deputy Prime Minister to Akintola who put Awolowo in the prison planned to overthrow his own government to make Awolowo, the Prime Minister. Stop this, it doesn't show you are smart. |
