You pointed my attention by claiming he is an atheist. As a believer who want to be Just like the scriptures encouraged me to, it behoves on me to confirm from him before making my judgement of his person. Yes, I would.
Peter even showed his flaw twice in scriptures. (1) When he denied Christ (2) When he was led astray by the friends of James and Paul rebuked him.

But I still believe in the letter of Peter, because it was his own message to the believers at the time.
