mrwilliams9:100% a major tournament. My pick out is the the context. He said it's not big enough to decide Balon D'Or against EUROS and Copa and I see the light. Not in terms of quality but it's lack of equivalent prestige due to its timing and double jeopardy. But in hindsight, Jamie Carragher has just boosted the prestige of the tournament. There'll be a lot of emotional voting this Balon Dor and it will take a miracle for Salah not to win it. |

BascoVanVeli:Sad watching Sunshine Stars in the past four seasons now. The team may not escape relegation this time. A team playing her home matches in Ikenne, ogun state, giving the likes of Remo Stars and 3SC opportunities to earn points from them at home games, which count as away games for both 'visitors'. Ondo state government refused to improve the infrastructure needed for the team to return and play their home matches in Akure. Sad. |

TheLoneCitizen:What are you even saying, no prestige as regard ballon d'or? 🙄 has Salah ever won Afcon or finish as highest goal scorer as same time performing very well for Liverpool and was deny ballon d'or? Salah not winning ballon d'or or World best has nothing to do with Afcon cos at no time has he win best player of the tournament of recent. |

Worst case scenario, Rwanda will play deep defensive game to survive with a draw and move to 8points…there is no way we are losing in Kigali…if they come out to play us…then the refree should get ready to start canceling Lookman’s goal in front of Kagame March 17 is 17 days away now…Rwanda we are coming…dont play🔥 else you all gon lurn |

As much as people are criticizing carraghah, objectively he voiced the thoughts of most European judges, journalists and agents regarding Afcon. To Africans, afcon is a big tournament but to the European judges and agents, afcon isn’t a major tournaments in the rank of a World Cup, EU or champions league and all the backlash wouldn’t change it. This is a tournament that, Egypt won thrice in a row and none of its players won the APOY during that period. |

zicky:Finally! It's not like Salah has won the Afcon nor has he made a mark on the competition and he was overlooked. After winning the Afcon in 2022, Mane had a 2nd place finish to Benzema who had a wonderful season. Carragher hasn't had enough oraimo cord walahi. |

Bannedlargejr:for your last point, it's not exclusive to Africa. Messi has never won conmebol player of the year despite winning copa America in 2021. Same for UEFA. Unless it's a world cup, most player of the year awards are decided by exceptional individual performance. |

ChrisKels:How long ago was that ? Fred Onyedinma was on a very good traction before h made terrible career decisions based on misplaced loyalty. Nonetheless, haven't talked about him as a prospect for the SE in excess of 4/5 years. |

Bannedlargejr:That is why their ignorance has now been exposed. Before now, European clubs weren't proud enough to showcase the exploits of their International players in Afcon, but times have changed now, except for those sticking to live in the past. A tournament with over 2 billion viewers can never be looked down upon again; that era is gone. |

Amedino99:Simple. That's why the last awards looked like a scam, despite Vinicius's brilliance and performance. |
