this map is not right....

if you consider tribes have cultural relations with other tribes in africa then it shouldnt look like this....

mali empire stretched very far till borders of morocco....

soo their would be much less line than today....
yorubas have cultural relatives till far inside ghana....their are ghanaians that understand yoruba....

your map is not with facts on ground....
There are no part of Ghana who speaks Yoruba, please can you name this part? those in new-town are Yorubas who normally come from Nigeria to sell stuffs and those who has been living there for many years and refused to come back to Nigeria, very few of them, kindly stop lying on Nairaland ire o

Our political leaders have been terrible.
Yeah, our political leaders saw the loophole in that arrangement and used it to whip sentiments to advance their own interests

You are wrong. That kind of division cannot lead to any meaningful development. Development comes from people pooling their strengths across ethnic divides.

What did thousands of years of ethnic-based groupings do for African development aside intra-ethnic and inter-ethnic supremacy and subjugation battles?

The Europeans came to trade with us in the 15th Century and met us underdeveloped and that was what led to colonization. We weren't advanced then even to the level of making a Dane gun.
Have you read Why Nations Fail by Daron Acemoglu? You sound like you've read the book.

Nigeria has one government, one trade, one economy, no borders, yet Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba are at each other's neck.

It is easier said than done.
Nigeria is a bad example.

That you don't know doesn't mean it's not true! Have you ever heard of an ethnic group in Ghana called the Ga? I bet you haven't, never! They are the owner of Accra, the capital city of Ghana. The Ga are Lukumi Yoruba, originally from Oyo Ile with ancestral root in Ile Ife,Osun State of Nigeria. The Ga of Ghana are indigenous Yoruba of Ghana. Their King, the Ga Mantse of Accra, often visits Ooni of Ile Ife. The Ga people acknowledge their Yoruba roots and regard Ile Ife as their ancestral home.

Before you argue with anyone next time,it will save you the embarrassment if only you'll just carry out a little research via Google. So you know, there are indigenous Yoruba in Nigeria, Benin Republic,Togo,Ghana, Sierra Leone, Gambia, and Ivory coast. This is a verifiable fact.

Ga is Accra people and have ancestry link with Yorubas just like Ewes but they don't speak Yoruba, i don't know other part of Togo who speak Yoruba apart from Atakpame people, i have bought something from a lady around port-novo with Yoruba language and she responded quite well, my friend who i was driving with was very surprised, my point is that those in Ghana has lost their Yoruba language, they have another language called Ga, and Ewes speaks ewe language, i often called them Ayigbe ..... I've met a lot of both Ewes and Ga people.

Europeans were our root of Nigeria problems.
We can't understand ourselves too difficult to govern.
Yet foolish Niggers are still fighting to preserve what WHite people created to exploit them forever…

Today they are mad when the likes of Calvin Bassey suffers racial abuse in the EPL…but why wouldn’t he when you Blacks are having erections of a Slave trading “Barclays” Premier league till date…

See them on the sports section running mouth and know it all regarding a White people’s money maker…
LOL

Blacks…. Will they change?

A country like Nigeria in what sense? In terms of ethnic diversity, population or development?

Forget about all the grandstanding, it is supported by historical and current facts that Africans have continued to struggle with developmental governance for centuries till date. Governance is largely seen by Africans from the lens of absolute monarchy, where it is an opportunity to enrich self, clans and ethnic groups, exert supremacy and subjugate others. Such.mindset can never lead to the developments achieved by Europeans.
Africans are even now still extremely primitive in their moral and political consciousness

If only we had grown to the stage where we could cooperate with each other it would've been totally impossible for the Europeans to successfully carry out the transatlantic slave trade, via which they were able to industrialize their societies on both sides of the Atlantic
