That’s very sweet. I love people who’s don’t shy away from their emotions because that’s what makes us all human.

It would be nice if those emotions can be extended to all the sick kids who are going to suffer from the harm cutting funds for medical research will have on them.


I’ve mentioned here before that I’m an oncology nurse (probably not for much longer because it’s a very heavy field) so I do have insight as to how research funding can personally impact sick people and their families.

I have patients who would’ve died but didn’t because they got accepted into a promising clinical trial.

I’m not going to make assumptions about what you do with your money but if you don’t already donate to organizations like Saint Jude, pls look into that. More kids like this baby get life saving treatment and they don’t have to pay a penny for it.

It’s going to get harder to provide those free treatment as cancer (and other health) research gets defunded by Trump. Your donation will make a difference.

I wouldn’t go as far as not going for an aww moment for a sick kid especially if it’s one of the last significant moments of their life before they pass.

But it’s silly to not recognize this is clout chasing by the Trump administration. Y’all claim they don’t play the race card but want to use a sick black baby to get Africans and African Americans to support a destructive govt that ultimately doesn’t care about anyone least of black babies.

You know what’s going to happen with defunding NIH? Less funds going into childhood cancer research. Picking a sick kid to do a photo op moment with while giving a middle finger to every single one of them out there in the community is a very low even by Trump already low standards.

If you take care of cancer patients, you’ll understand that what they need most sometimes is funds to participate in medical treatments that haven’t been made widely available to the general population due to funding issues. Further defunding those already lean programs is inhumane.

A photo op moment is for the pride and clout of the person doing it. Not the population that’s supposed to benefit from it.

I’m neutral about the ones who didn’t applaud. If they saw it as the clout chasing photo op that it was, I understand them not wanting to participate in the charade. Trying to use a sick kid to show the country that those who didn’t clap don’t love the country while simultaneously taking away chances for sick people to get better leaves a bad taste in the mouth of anyone with discernment. Maybe if people stopped entertaining his insincere photo ops, he will stop doing them And focus on things that don’t hurt the country.
