The landlord owns his house, he has the right to put it in the terms of agreement before any payments is made for the tenant to decide whether to rent the house or not

Even if it is not in the agreement, common sense should be applied here. Just like there’s no agreement for some issues that common curtesy demands.

They can install solar on external platforms like metal pole away from the building itself.
The main reason landlords don't want it on their roofs is because of damaging the roof and flooding the apartments. Maybe the wood for trusses are weak or the installers leave big punctures.
Some people have had to change their roof entirely after a tenant packed out and removed their panels.
but fire disaster is another damning reality

The issue of whether a tenant has rights to put solar panels on the roof of the house that has been rented to him/her, regardless of whether the landlord agrees or not, should be tried in court and determined even up to the Supreme Court level. On a personal note, I see no reason why a landlord should obstruct his/her tenant from installing solar or any other electricity production modules within the space that has been rented to such a tenant in so far as the installation doesn't damage the structure of the building or its components. In fact, in any instance of damage, the tenant can still be held accountable to pay for any damage caused.

People don't roof their houses with plywood though....it's usually aluminium sheets or zinc......it's a matter of protecting the cables well enough if u ask me

that's exactly how Africa think backward, they don't even know what caused the fire to start with, because of ordinary pictures

I can even think of how a well installed solar panel could ignite fire on the roof. There might be some other factors that could have caused such incident. That's if the photo is actually genuine.

If you want to install solar use the professionals,use the right cables. I have never heard of a burning panel. Fire from a Christmas tree nearly finished my friend's house if not that the tenant arrived home at the right time.

The cause of burning solar panels like the picture depicts above is when the solar power is being overloaded.
They help in calculating the load your solar panel can carry, if it can't be enough, you shed your appliances. Use 1 for some hours before changing etc.
Just get a good solar person for consultation.

the solar panels in this setups are used for charging batteries
not carrying loads.

Hope you know the fire could have started by short circuit inside the building and not because of the solar panels? I hope you know if you have solar panels installed, this is still exactly how the fire would have come out from the roof?
I've been using solar for many years, I've never had or seen any incidence like this until today.

I'm certain that fire was nothing related to solar panels. If there were no panels, this is still how you'll see the fire come out from the roof.
