I think you should contact @drentd he has a mentorship arbitrage betting thread. As a starter you can start with breaking-bet, because their subscription is cheap and supports lots of Nigerian bookmakers.

Finally it worked.

Fast forward to October 2023, I dumbed arbitrage betting and settled for value betting; even though value betting was not risk-free, I find it more profitable.

With arbing you are paying the vig price which means you are giving up a part of your profits for a non existing guaranteed profit. From Oct - Dec 2023, I made a total profit of $3720. I was very much ready to quit my job.

In January 2024 I submitted my resignation letter to focus on value betting full time. I was scared of what the future holds and happy for the time being. From Jan 2024 - May 2024 my profit was over $9K. This was way over my 6 years' salary combined. Finally, everything is working again. At the end of the EPL season, around June/July, I took 2 months break. And resumed in September. By December my total profit was over $38K.

January this year things took a drastic turn. All the profits quoted above were made using only bet365. I used only bet365 because the scanner I was using had lots of bets on bet365.

I was placing hundreds of value bets daily. So far I have placed over 20k bets and turned over $700k. And I started all these with just around $640 bankroll.

This year, I managed to make just $800 and lost over 16 bet365 accounts. Before now my minimum profit with 16 bet365 accounts should be around $6k. I have made $5k in profits on a single account before. Then you could deposit $3k on an account without issue, unlike now. Unfortunately, bet365 became brutal and harsh toward smart bettors most especially Nigerians.

They close my accounts even when I'm yet to place a bet. I even heard from some quarters that they are about to exit the Nigeria space, but I'm not sure. Some are even complaining that now you need an authenticator to place bets on bet365. Looking from where I'm coming from I feel so happy and fulfilled. Finally, my years of struggles were not in vain.

I am now more experienced and have sound knowledge of how sports betting works. Making money from sports betting is no longer the main issue for me now. Finding reliable bookies accounts like bet365, williamhill, BetVictor, Unibet, etc. is the main struggle now.

Although not giving up yet on bet365. Bet365 and 1xbet remain the most profitable bookies for smart bettors. They are very easy to beat. And The only difference between the 2 is one is reliable and responsible, the other (1xbet) is a crook and very dubious.


Forget all these tipsters littered all over the sports sections and elsewhere; if you are not matched betting, value betting, or using arbitrage, you can't make reasonable profits in the long run. You will only end up losing your hard earned money. Till this very moment, there is somebody I know who has been making over $4k+ monthly for over 5 years now. He does that using value betting.

Will I recommend sports betting to anybody? The answer is NO. I said no because the risk of deviating from your strategy and gambling carelessly is very high. You must be and always remain disciplined and trust the process. I have lost over $1k in just 2 days while value betting. But at the end of the month, my profit was over $3k.

From my experience sportybet, betkings, merrybet have some nice value bets and arbing opportunities. These bookies are considered safe and less restrictive.

But the main Nigerian bookies are 1xbet (over 10 Nigeria clones), Melbet, betwinner, 22bet, msport, final bet, and a host of others. The issue with these sets of 1xbet like bookies, is they can be very dubious and problematic. Their KYC process is very demanding and time consuming, withdrawing your funds can be hectic with these bookies. Aside from that, these bookies have lots and lots of opportunities, even more than bet365.

As for the scanner, I recommend breaking-bet for a start. Although their odds can sometimes be wrong and delayed. But their subscription is very cheap. No need paying almost #200k monthly for more heavy weight scanners like trademate sports, rebel betting, betburger, pinnacle odds dropper or oddpedia, when your stakes ain't above $15 - $20.

Okay, here are 2 options.

1) Payments of #20k for the account. And you gain nothing or lose nothing if the account makes a profit or not

2)Fixed 10% profit of any profits the account makes. Scanner subscription and funding are all my responsibility.

I had same experience with these bookies. Once your odds are reduced on 1xbet, Melbet, 22bet, and all those 1xbet look alike will reduce your odds too, because they all share users between themselves. That is why I used only bet365 who suddenly became brutal.

If you are not arbing or value betting, they will pay because, to them, you are just a normal gambler. But make sure you have your identification documents ready, and check out their max payout. Also, prepare yourself for the adverse effects of losing a rollover; it can be mentally draining; I wish you good luck.

The thing is after each loss I'd block my account but after 1week I open another account.

I have resolved to quit betting for good hence I'm sticking to this plan.

And just before you quit if you have any of the listed documents, NIN not included. Create and verify a bet365 and an Astropay account I will use it for value betting and we get to share any profit accrued from the account.

Backing and Laying on an exchange, then a long break.

So I started using the martingale OV/UN strategy. The strategy works like this. First, you lay OV 1.5G or O. 5G, and once a goal goes in. You add the liability of the previous bet to your target profit and lay OV 2.5 goals. Sometimes I won 2 bets in a row. In a month I doubled my bank role doing this. Hmm, finally, the ship has been rescued.

Everything was going smoothly until I think it was Liverpool or Many City/Barca flogged Man U 6 - 1. I lost both my previous profits and bankroll on that game. I needed $900+ to lay OV 7.5 Goals. Hot tears were pouring down my cheeks, my palms were sweating.


I wanted to commit suicide by jumping into the river. On getting into the river there were lots of swimmers on the river bank. So I felt if I should attempt suicide, I would be rescued, and my news would be all over the town, which could make matters even worse for me. I considered running into a moving truck at night, but something was telling me the pain would be very horrible if I eventually survived it. I was depressed for weeks.

I sold my car for 950k in 2019 and settled for scalping and laying favorites on the Betfair exchange. The strategy involved laying low odds. For instance, if I lay a 1.20 odds for $100. I will lose just $20 if my bet loses and gain $100 if my bet wins. And just as you know, low odds don't always win.


The longest losing streak I had on 1.20 odds was 13. I had the bankroll that could withstand such a long losing run; as such, I was in profit. Just as you know, nothing good lasts forever. In September/October of 2019, Betfair made an announcement that they were exiting the Nigeria space. And directed all Nigerian users to withdraw their funds with a 2 weeks ultimatum.

Alternatives like Matchbook were very low on volumes. See my world crashing again. I withdrew my funds and took a long break. After all, I already made profits that could carry me and my family for at least 18 months. I felt sober but life



In 2020, I took a long break from sports betting and focused on learning an IT skill; I enrolled in a social engineering course on Udemy. Although I was still betting, but it was just on an experimental basis. I read lots of articles and joined lots of smart betting forums. This really helped me in getting a deep understanding of how sports betting works.

Laying in betting means betting against an outcome. Only betting exchanges offer such features. When you bet on either win draw win (1 x 2) on a normal bookie like bet365 you are backing. Laying is the opposite of backing.

Let's use the picture below for illustration. Take note of the light blue and pink color columns. On the pink column, you can see that I'm trying to place a lay bet of €100, which means that I'm betting for the match not to end in a DRAW. As you can see, my liability is €360, which I will lose if the match should end in a draw. Or €100 profits if the match doesn't end in a DRAW.


If the favorite scores first, the back odds for the draw (blue column) can jump as high as 7 odds, and it keeps increasing. Since I layed the draw for $100 I can then back the draw with a stake of €260 for a guaranteed profit of €40 no matter how the match ends, or I can let it ride by not placing a back bet and pray the game doesn't ends in a draw.

But if the outsiders score first or there are no early goals, then the back odds for the draw will be reducing per second, and my €360 will be depleting gradually since there is a high chance of the favorite equalizing or the match ending in a draw.

Laying low odds is all bout betting against low odds outcome. Let us again use the picture below. If I place a lay bet of €100 at odds of 1.48. It means that I'm betting that the favorite team will not WIN. I will lose €48, which is my liability if the favorite wins, or win €100 if they lose or draw. If the odds for the favourite is 1.20 using a €100 lay stake means I'm risking €20 to win €100.

Martingale is all about chasing your losses for a guaranteed profit. In reality, it only works if you have an unlimited bankroll, which is not possible. It was my favorite strategy for OV/UN goals then. This is how OV/UN martingale works. And it is a very dangerous strategy, it can ruin your bankroll in minutes.

You place a lay bet of €10 on OV0.5 goals on odds of 1.20. Given the fact that such odds are very low, around 1.05 - 1.20, you risk losing €2 if the game doesn't end 0 - 0 or win €10 if it does. If the first goal goes in. You then place another lay bet of €10 on OV 1.5 goals; if the second goal goes in, you add your previous 2 losses to your target profit and continue placing lay bets on OV n.5 goals. The liability may be low, but it can compound very quickly in high-scoring games, like that of Manu vs Lyon, which had about 9 goals.

Like the match below, At halftime, the score is 1 - 3 in favor of the outsiders. The back odds for the DRAW are currently at just 5.20. Even after 3 goals from the outsiders, the back odds for the favorite have jumped from 1.47 to 11.20. If I had layed the favorite for €100 (bet that they won't WIN) my current guaranteed profit would have been around €86.74. But if I had laid the Draw at 4.60, my current profit would have been at a measly €11.24. That's because the favorites still have a high chance of ending the game in a DRAW.

Lesson learned: It is never a good idea to lay at high odds, even though the chances of winning are very high; just 1 loss can have damaging effects on a bankroll. On the other hand, laying on low odds seems more profitable because even though the chances of winning are low, bankroll ruining is less likely. Take, for instance, If I lose 2 straight games at 1.48 odds on a €100 stak,e, I lose a total of €96, but on an odd of €4.60, I lose a total of €720.
