The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has warned of severe heat stress in 12 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

In its weather outlook released on Monday, the agency said the rising temperatures and high humidity levels in the next three to four days may cause thermal discomfort across several regions in Nigeria.

The agency said the most affected states would include Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo, Kogi, Nasarawa, Benue, Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, and Cross River.

NiMet added that other vulnerable regions are Taraba, Adamawa, Plateau, Kaduna, Zamfara, and Sokoto.

It urged the public to be wary of potential health risks, fatigue and irritability, reduced focus and motor skills, and lower productivity.

The agency advised Nigerians to stay in well ventilated areas, wear breathable clothing, drink plenty of water, avoid peak sun hours between 12pm to 3pm, and use sun protection.

On February 20, NiMet forecasted prolonged heatwave across the country, with temperatures expected to be between 38 to 40℃.

It's raining in Uyo and the weather is bearable. Those northern states should be cut off from Nigeria. They belong to the Arab desert region.

The heat is terrible everywhere. This is the season.
APC made life harder with Band A, B, C, D, etc. With the high charge on Band A, using your a/cs have become a big problem. A/cs are presently turning to antiques in homes.

I was expecting Lagos to be on the list. The last few days have been blazing hot.

And I was surprised to see Oyo on the list, cos I move between Lagos and Ibadan all year, and was in Ibadan last week. Lagos is definitely hotter than Ibadan right now. This is based on my personal experience

Add Lagos. It's been very hot since last night.

Who doesn't know that there's always severe heat across these states during late February to early march every year?

In August now they'll still come and tell us that there's going to be severe heavy rainfall across selected states like we don't know.

Abuja has become a baker's oven since mid-February and until now, no respite in view....

Abuja is very very hot 🔥 presently and no sign of rain 🌧️ anytime soon.
