Police applaud Anambra residents for ignoring sit-at-home order by Peterobiisathie(op): 10:07am On Mar 13, 2025

The Police Command in Anambra has commended residents for resisting the Monday sit-at-home order orchestrated by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South East.

In a statement released on Wednesday in Awka, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, lauded the people’s resilience.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the illegal sit-at-home has severely disrupted socioeconomic and academic activities across the region.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Ikioye Orutugu, stated that the police had intensified security measures, including the Police Safe School Initiative(PSSI), to combat insecurity.

“I want to thank the people of Anambra for standing up against the illegal sit-at-home order, thereby improving socioeconomic activities,” Orutugu said.

According to him, the PSSI is a proactive strategy aimed at safeguarding schools, students, teachers, and staff.

He also highlighted the negative impact of the sit-at-home order and reassured residents that security agencies had taken control of the streets, particularly on Mondays, to ensure public safety.

Orutugu urged residents to go about their daily activities without fear of harassment.

Don't know what the loquacious police officers are yapping about.. Folks should get serious for once..

Go after criminals and kidnappers and assassins and stop disturbing the peace of the whole place with all these sterile rants about "Sit at Home"..

Sit at Home is Sit at Home. Period! It effects the income of the person who chose to obey. Baffles me as to why the police are fixated on that. It is voluntary and it is not the reason for any business hiccups in the east.

Lack of security is the main issue hindering business growth in the country and the police should focus more in that area..
In any event, police "toll gates" are worse economic threats to the south-east than the much talked about "Sit at Home".

... Just that they're afraid of coming out for their own safety.

Even Kanu himself has disassociated himself from it but rather said they can do that when he's going to court... But some criminal elements, hiding under the name ipob are using it to perpetrate crime

The only reason people are coming out now is because they can see that government is already dealing with those criminals so they're free now
