What is happening to Internet Services In Nigeria? by donareal(op):
Honestly, this country has a notorious way of consistently defying logic. Why do we always have to pay more, only to receive less in return? How do you explain increasing the cost of data while simultaneously reducing network quality?

Did anyone else notice that as soon as data prices went up, internet speed and overall service quality dropped significantly across all networks?

Why is no one talking about this?

I use Canva everyday. I just got the Airtel unlimited WiFi suggested by my dad. I use a lot of Gig everyday. You can also try MTN 500MB for 20/50Naira from 11pm to 6am. That's for night crawlers.

such a common issue but yet everyone is keeping mum instead of speaking out so some people will be held responsible.

We all rants online, when some call the govt out. They will be the one to crucify that person. enjoy your pain in peace.

I have noticed same and it is tragic. Government sought to convince Nigerians to accept increase in telecoms tariffs with the assurances such would improve quality of service provided. Instead we are experiencing a downgrade and overall fall in quality.

Not pleased with the telecoms regulatory body under PBAT at all in regards to current experience of end users. Especially after significant rates hike.

It's very simple. Your old package has been throttled. Upgrade to the next package or find another provider.

Re: What is happening to Internet Services In Nigeria? by hopefulLandlord: 10:08am On Mar 16, 2025
There's a plausible logical explanation for this
Increase in prices of data made those who are buying huge data to reduce and many who are buying small data to stop buying entirely. Now people come to me saying this like "hopefulLandlord, abeg hotspot me make I use am transfer money from my opay or check WhatsApp for messages or check my ticket etc" and these are people who usually have data before. If you extrapolate it and realise most Nigerians due to fall in the economy are in the category of these people you can see why this is happening. They probably did the increase with the hope of same number of people as before paying more which would in turn give them more funds, part of which would go towards maintenance and upgrading but didn't see many subscribers dropping out entirely

This is just a logical plausibility. I'm not stating it as fact

Re: What is happening to Internet Services In Nigeria? by dami2boi(m): 12:19pm On Mar 16, 2025
Drop in Network quality started last year, Video meeting was the worse hit, it nearly frustrated me.
Up till now, I am still at a lost as to what went wrong, but yet we have regulatory agency that just sit and drop monthly salary without doing there job.

When data prices were raised isp raised prices across all their bouquets. However the price rise on the lowest packages were raised minimally and in exchange the ISP reduced bandwidth. My package on fibre one is virtually unusable unless I use a wired LAN.

What they want is for you to upgrade your modem and package.

This is the price level where things make sense for them.

My brother,

Everything defies logic.

I paid, #20,000 as nepa bill on Thursday (said date light was good)..Quicky paid for dstv onto march.. since then no power....and no explanation for the outage.

To make matters worse GLO is showing me shege, abi they work under the phcn umbrella.

At this point, I'm tired.
