But I think it just depends on the niche and what the YouTube viewers are interested in at that time.

My teenage nephew created his own YouTube channel last year with the aim of just posting random SA videos and according to him, he used to get thousands of views and was able to achieve about 500 subscribers within less than a year before YouTube terminated his account due to copywrite... His videos kept getting deleted for copywrite and since he had no guidance, his channel got terminated as well.

I advised him to edit his videos before posting them next time... Now he's planning on posting movie clips... His parents keep discouraging him and telling him that YouTube is a scam... But I encouraged him to go ahead, if his channel reaches 1k subscribers and get monetized, I'll personally provide him with my account details since he's still a minor and I'll then send the money to his mother to prove to her that YouTube is not a scam.

YouTube won't monetize such videos. Cause it is copyrighted. They won't even tell you this till you've wasted your time and energy. It is at the point where you achieved all requirements YouTube set for monetization that YouTube will draw your attention to the copyright on your videos

My goal is to prove to his parents that it's not a scam, once they're convinced, we can then work on changing account details so that they can finally be in charge of his YouTube finances... I advised him to use the Canva app to edit his videos since it's free and doesn't require any monthly subscription.

When you use canva on your YouTube videos, YouTube will still strike such videos for copyright. Even when you are making your own videos and someone is playing a song at the background. That particular videos will have copyright strike from YouTube.

YouTube prefer you upload consents that are 100% yours. Except contents where you have the approval from the owner to reproduce.

If that was the case, the many YouTube accounts would've been terminated... I know the one of music... But other YouTubers have been making content by re-editing those videos they got from other social media platforms and so far it has been working for them.

Those YouTubers who have been posting other people's videos are not monetized. For your YouTube channel to qualify for monetization, YouTube must ensure none of your videos is copyrighted. Except you have permission of the original owner of the videos you used.

You can post anything on YouTube. YouTube will turn a blank eyes sometimes. However, the moment you apply for monetization, YouTube will scrutinize all you videos.
