Guys, i have a question. I bidded for Tbills at the primary market through my bank on the 5th of March for a 364 days tenor. I was surprised, I got 16.75% , which was different from what the stop rate was of 18.39. Though, while filling the form, I left the bidded rate empty, cos I wasn't too sure of what to put and my account officer seems naive too. The question is, since i didnt quote my rate, am I not supposed to get the FG rate? Please someone should advice me, thank you.

If u left that place blank, meaning you are going with the bank's rate (which is most likely lower than the stop rate).

Which bank did you do the bidding with?

You are right theoretically.

Did you consider the risk of both investment?

I personally don't have anything to do with land except I want to build a home or office.

Hello guys,
I am new to treasury bills and would appreciate some insight.

I am wondering why anyone would want to go for the 364 longer investment option.

From my basic Maths, if I have 10,000,000 to invest, is it not far more profitable to invest every 91 days at say 17% and reinvest at maturity.

Than a single investment at say 24% for 364 days

Is there an advantage on investment for longer days?

Thank you in anticipation
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by presiade(m): 8:46am On Mar 24, 2025
Read some previous pages of the thread to find your answer—you’ll learn by doing so. But to help you, rates are quoted as p.a. and are pro-rated for all tenors less than 364 days.

Like the ones Wike is taking over in Abuja and the structures destroyed in Lagos.

I only begged you to place the risk involved in both side by side.

As for me, whenever I want to take risk, I am deliberate about it hence the plea for you to also educate your audience of the imminent risk involved in both investment.

Lol cheesy oga calm down and learn from previous pages

The 17% is pa for 91 days the interest on one year will be divided by 4. So it's far lower than 24% pa
