A simple boys outdoor football play in the school led to an unfortunate death of a school boy.

It was gathered that the outdoor football play turned tragic after the ball they were playing flew into one of the fenced houses around their school.

The boy attempted to retrieve the ball by climbing on the fence and this didn’t sit well with the owner of the house.

Despite begging the owner of the house for the ball, he got his gun and shot at the boy. The boy got hit and died when he taken to the hospital.

Eyewitnesses stated that the boy is a JSS 1 student in one of the schools in the community.

Police statement said;

The Imo State Police Command has arrested Barrister Donald Mbamah, a 64-year-old man, in connection with the shooting of a 16-year-old student, Paul Victor, on March 17, 2025. The incident occurred at approximately 12:34 PM at Mbamah's residence located at Area N, World Bank, New-Owerri. The victim, a student of Urban Development Secondary School, was allegedly shot in the buttocks under circumstances that are still under investigation.

Police operatives from the New Owerri Division, led by the DPO, swiftly responded to a distress call from a concerned neighbor who heard the gunshot. They arrived at the scene, apprehended the suspect, and rushed the victim, Paul Victor, General Hospital, Umuguma for treatment. Despite efforts to save him, the victim was confirmed dead on March 20, 2025.

Following the incident, Barrister Donald Mbamah was transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for questioning. A thorough investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to recover the alleged firearm used in the shooting. Photographs were also taken at the crime scene as part of the investigation.

The Imo State Police Command expresses its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and assures the public that justice will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law. The suspect will be arraigned in court once investigations are completed and sufficient evidence is gathered.

The Command also call on the public to refrain from taking laws into their hands and allow the police and relevant authorities to handle the matter through legal means.

As at the time of this report, wikigists could not verify the exact location and school where the incident happened a video circulating online shows the incident happened in one of the South Eastern states.

hmmm, so after begging, he still did his mind, the man should be questioned and also jailed for life.

Lawlessness everywhere

So the boy did not survive the shooting . May God rest his soul and comfort his loved ones. What manner of madness would make a grown man shoot at a young boy just because he jumped into his compound to retrieve his ball? Even if he jumped in to steal, he should have handed him to the authorities. I hope he faces the full wrath of the law.

He will first explain how he got a gun(it if is licensed). Then, he will write in statement, what happened. If this is true, that man went too far. I want to believe he must have been warning them. They probably have damaged his roof with football causing the roof to leak water during rain. You see, if you can not manage your temper, you are a time bomb.

If this isn't wickedness tell me what else it is. A murderer cannot hide under a guise of any noble profession.

He should face the full wrath of capital punishment from the law.

I remember we use to do this stunt way back in school the most people got was being flogged in the compound or taking the child to the school to report to the school authorities to handle the student.
