Osimhen will hit 100 goals for Nigeria if he is injury free and if Nigeria plays more games. He is still very young.

Meanwhile, where is the name of the most celebrated Kanu Nwankwo and J J Okocha on the list?
Any one cares to educate this guy about Kanu and Jay Jay??

Osimhen overtakes Odegbami, now Nigeria’s 2nd highest goal scorer behind Yekini (Top 10)

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen on Friday evening overtook the legendary Segun Odegbami in the list of Nigeria’s all-time top scorers.

This follows his goal in the 11th minute of the Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali.

Osimhen came into the match level with Odegbami on 23 goals.

But the Napoli loanee put the ball in the next following a free-kick cross from Ademola Lookman early in the game.

Osimhen now has 25 goals, two ahead of Odegbami.

The 26-year-old is now only behind Rashidi Yekini, who has 37 goals
for the Super Eagles.

Nigeria’s all-time scorers [Top 10]

Rashidi Yekini – 37 Goals

Victor Osimhen – 25 Goals

Segun Odegbami – 23 Goals

Yakubu Aiyegbeni – 21 Goals

Ikechukwu Uche – 19 Goals

Obafemi Martins – 18 Goals

Sunday Oyarekhu – 17 Goals

Samson Siasia – 16 Goals

Odion Jude Ighalo – 16 Goals

Ahmed Musa – 16 Goals

Impressive.

It would take sometime before the legendary "Goals father" Rashidi Yekini's 37 goals are equalled though.

Uche Ikechukwu scored 19 goals—a remarkable feat for a defender, outscoring some strikers. And possibly in fewer matches too. Back then, teams played fewer than 10 games a year, except during Nations Cup years.

Edit:
Guys thanks for correcting me. I actually thought it was Uche.

Besides, there were no young players tournaments during their time. If we checked very well, most of Oshimen goal as at were from World Understand 16 games he participated twice. This is not undermining his achievement so far.

Cool. I see him beating Yakubu soon.

But honestly, I'm super proud of us Yorubas and our myriad, positive contributions to this county. Of the top 5 highest goal scorers in Nigerian history, 4 are Yorubas (outside Osinmen). About other sports have our feet too. Football, track, and so on. All these despite the limited resources. We're some of the greatest and intelligent people, I believe.
stop talking nonsense. most you bring ethnicity into everything? 4 are from edo state in the stats. Who has talked about bini people?

If the top 10, 4 are from Edo State. Growing up , Edo had raw football talent, lack of sponsors usually truncate their talents.

I usually leave Benin city to spend holidays in my father's village where we have a perfect football pitch. Everyone I met in the village usually would bench me, I am not a prolific player, Just gifted with speed and the ability to mesmerise my opponent not a good team player hence the benching. Those guys where really really good. They usually have a match against a club from the city and Play like men.

These days, land grabbers, Yahoo and cultism have dent the talents in my beloved state.
oshimen was born and brought up in Lagos

You're mixing up Ikechukwu Uche, former Super Eagle's striker, with Uche Okechukwu ( a.k.a " Gentle Giant" ), former Super Eagle's defender.

For the First Time, The president of Brazil is moving in angrily, threatening to drop a Brazilian player (Vinicius)
Such an embarrassment to Pele, Garrincha, Romario, Fenomeno, Rivaldo, Dinho, KaKa Adriano, Fabiano, and Neymar.
On a Good day, this Guy won't smell the bench of the Brazilian National Team.

Just imagine if Yoruba is a country on her own. Dominated the Grammys, top Christian Churches in Africa, IT, Afro music, Culture and tradition with influence across Africa and South America etc. Imagine if Lugard didn't make that horrible mistake of amalgamation.

It's not about tribe and interestingly, the most "Yoruba" boy in that list is Samson, then followed by Victor and Obafemi Martins

Odegbami is a Jos boy, Yekini was a Kaduna boy, Yakubu is not Yoruba, he is a Benin boy.

This shows the fallacy of bringing tribe into football.

Did anyone tell you it's his national team statistics that's pushing him for world beat or ballon d or?
It's definitely his club performance and not his national team, he plays for the best football club in the world which is real Madrid, for the likes of osimhen to get into world beat conversations they need to first get into the elite teams like real Madrid and start doing their magic there before they are reckoned with.
That's the way football is structured,if you want to win the big prize you get into the big leagues.
