Yekini vs Osimhen: The Naija Goals Record Comparison Race Fun Facts

Fun Fact 1:
✅️Rashidi Yekini scored 2 goals for Nigeria in his 39th Cap in the Super Eagles' 4-1 victory over Algeria in a WC Qualifiers played in Lagos (3rd July, 1993).

✅️Victor Osimhen scores 2 goals in his 39th cap as well for the Super Eagles, also in a WC Qualifiers vs Rwanda played in Amahoro, Kigali (21st March, 2025).

Fun Fact 2:

By Yekini's 39th Cap, he had bagged 23 international goals.

By Osimhen's 39th Cap, he has now bagged 25 international goals.

The race is still on to the Legendary Yeking Goals Record of 37.

12 to equal. 13 to break it. We move.
This is Osimhen's 40th cap tho, my doc 😏

🧢 40 caps
⚽ 25 goals
🅰️ 11 assists

Sometimes you jam lucky assists like that in football.

That's why as a creative player it's important to play behind a striker wey get sense to dey convert all your through pass even if na average ones.

Subzerooo:
Lol he nodded the ball back to the defender and they are telling me assist

Moffi dey try before he got injured. Reminds me of them Amokachi, Yakubu, and Emenike kind of strikers.

I still think Dessers has something to offer. Orban looks interesting if he can bin the horrible attitude. Agree 100% about Onuachu and Umar.

Akor seems too injury prone for my liking.

If Awoniyi the forgotten man get a club where he will get regular playing time I think he could still cook for the SE.

One thing is definitely true the gap in performance and output between Osimhen and our other forwards is uncomfortably too wide. KC before diminishing returns set in was at least doing his bit.
Baba mk we no dey deceive ourselves on Dessers cus can’t do more than he have already done in the national

From the very beginning the guy in the national team is off

My man Basco thanks again always for the highlights and congrats on reaching 100k subscribers. Cheers to 100 mil grin

Thank God for the win.

Missed the game but from the highlights our set-piece game was on point. Being a while I watched a SE game where the deadball deliveries where consistent. Could have easily scored more from corners if Ekong and Osimhen's headers were on target.

Most of our threat level looked to come from the left which I hope the coaching crew can mix up so we're not too predictable. I know that was down to Chukwueze's NEPA performance. Like someone suggested pending the discovery of a consistent RW maybe one of Lookman, Simon, or even Iwobi should operate there. Samuel for now STRICTLY super sub.

Aina is versatile but RB is his bread and butter. Osayi defensively looks too beatable for my liking.

Chelle seems to not be shy making tactical changes. Yes it's just his first game but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Battle for qualification is far from over. Boys need to refocus. Zimbabwe will be stubborn opponents but with the same level of commitment and that performance I saw from the boys by God's grace we should win that game as well.

We no get striker apart from Osimhen...

I wonder who can score that exact Osimhen 2nd goal with the defender breathing down his neck and an unrushing goal keeper.

I immediately rule out Sadiq, desserts, Awoniyi, Boniface. They will not score that goal.

I've never seen Arokodare play except for that 15 minutes Cameo... Can't judge.

I've seen Akor Adam's a little, can he 🤔 He look like one.

One person I can put 5k on to "Try" is probably Moffi.. He is quite rugged too, but lefty 🤷..

Na God just dash us that guy... He should be playing for France or Germany or something...

Boniface will effortlessly score that Osimhen’s 2nd goal but the issue is can he hustle the ball away from the defender and dash towards goal as osimhen did? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Boniface is the worst so far 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

But to be fair I would hv preferred Dessers taking Boniface space in this qualifiers base on current form

For Chelle to prefer Arokodare ahead of Boniface to replace osimhen against Rwanda says it all

Boniface really need to sit up

So top 9 teams from the groups qualify automatically. Then d 4 best 2nd placed teams will fight esch other to determine who plays intercontinental play-off. Very very long thing.
Na to qualify direct o. Right now doesn't look like our group can even produce top 4 2nd. But we lose nothing by hoping to qualify directly. So NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER.

Moffi bleeped up a chance like that against South Africa in the AFCON, so he can't.

That defender almost met up with Osimhen. I won't put my money on Boniface to escape that last defender...

You know leverkusen Boniface is different from Nigeria own.

We lost to Benin without Osimhen - He came and we won 3–0
We drew Rwanda one leg and lost the second without Osimhen starting both legs - He started this one and we won 0–2
We drew Zimbabwe without Osimhen - Are you seeing the pattern? 😏

Another cleansheet win 💪🏾💪🏾

We really need a striker who can maintain same tempo when subbed in for Osimhen.

Chelle needs to put in effort to bring in George Ilenikhena, while we also watch Rafiu Durosimi as Moffi recuperates.

It is 39 caps. 40 is wrong. The Togo game in 2017 is not counted because it was rendered invalid and not a registered Grade A game. I have been correcting this error for 3 yrs now.

Osimhen has 39 recognised caps for the Super Eagles not 40.

BankyGee:

He shouldn't sit up, he should be there and be posting memes. He thinks he has a stake in the team without contributing nothing on the field of play

That Rafiu has either been scoring or assisting since he returned from injury.
I haven't watched him play though

Have you checked Boniface convertion rate? He won't score anything, rather he will continue to hold on to the ball and tries to dribble the defender again

That is a display of their ignorance. It is very wrong and even FIFA backs my statement.

40 caps is outrageously wrong. This is just to show you that most of these so called Big news platforms have lazy research people in their departments.

Read this...▶️ https://dailypost.ng/2017/06/02/fifa-will-not-regard-nigeria-vs-togo-friendly-game/

And then read this on Ahmed Musa's caps brouhaha where FIFA even had to correct the NFF on Musa having 98 caps then instead of the 100 NFF was shouting.

Musa had to eventually play a few more games right finally surpass 100 caps officially because the same Togo 2017 game was nullified.
