Asylum is a law that allows immigrants to be in the US legally as well.
Until their asylum claim is adjudicated and they lose it, they are here legally, whether your thick skull likes it or not.

At least one of the attorneys of these people claims he was here seeking asylum.
Thus he was here legally.

And let's go further. Whether they are here legally or not we won't know.
The government won't provide the names of the people and won't say why they were removed.
Again, the purpose of due process is to make sure the people being removed are who the government says they are and that they don't have a legal right to be here.

And lastly these people were not deported. Deportation is a legal process.
This was extralegal thus it was extraordinary rendition.

You might not have seen the post I responded to basil. I think going to church has its benefits. Lots of benefits actually that I don’t care to go into details here on this thread. So if I can keep my eye on my kids the whole time, they can get some of those benefits and I can keep them safe as well.

And of course there are other ways of keeping them safer in church like not letting them go for mid week activities where parents are not there. No Overnight youth church camps. No pastors having unfettered access to your kids etc. these are all avenues via which those things can happen under your nose and you won’t be aware.

I don’t think taking this into the ad hominem angle is going to do anything to change the statistics of the abuse coming out from the church community. I’m not making those numbers up. The predatory adults abusing children are. So maybe less focus on me and more on calling them out the way you guys harp on others.

Instead of pretending it’s not unsafe, we can adopt the “no pervert will safe among us” mindset so that the church can truly be the safe space we teach that it is.

Former US House Speaker Dennis “Denny” Hastert has been sentenced to 15 months in federal prison. The actual charge that got him here was structuring currency transactions to evade currency transaction reports — that is, he withdrew cash from his bank accounts in increments of less than $10,000 each, in order to get around laws that mandate banks report transactions of $10,000 and over to the federal government. Idk seems to me like teaching sex education is far healthier than rummaging in children’s underwear to see what type of genitals they have. I learned sex education in primary school in Nigeria and my parents didn’t have to provide consent. It was a normal part of education.

Republicans at the West Virginia Legislature passed a bill that would allow health care providers to “visually or physically examine a minor child” for the purpose of identifying their “biological sex” without the “consent of the child’s parent, guardian, or custodian.”

Yesterday, the West Virginia House of Delegates approved an amendment from Del. J.B. Akers (R) to allow a child’s “treating health care provider” to examine a child’s genitals without the consent of their parents. The amendment states that only the treating health care provider can perform such examinations without the parents’ consent. The amendment does not mention adults, and therefore presumably they could be forced to undergo such examinations by anyone.
