RichIgboBoy:Faid enough... A naija used car for 10yrs no be motor be dat bro. The car is just managing itself, if na Toyota the car will survive small until it can't survive no matter More. And also you are burning more fuel coz of thickness of the oil... And in that 10yrs how many times have they changed spark plugs, coil and fuel injector. Plus mind you that 10yrs period they would have change gasket and rebuilt engine. Radiator would have been changed many times. Instead of using coolant they use water. They would have spent money on repairs..... To top it off say with your full chest can your car travel outside Lagos to Abuja at night and feel confident that car no go break down.... Cars driven in Lagos tend to suffer wear and tear compare to Abuja or places that have better roads .. Due to the abuse that car will not make it on long journey outside Lagos and it will chop more fuel and over heating.... You can't comfortably tell me that you fit drive that car for night go Abuja . Let us not received ourselves. That 10yr period that car would have been rigged gasket changed fuel pump replaced etc. |

dru23:say what you know o bro, I can comfortably travel with my car to Abuja at night, no check engine light. My bro was using same oil and was frequently traveling to east with his car. Even for over heating, people that has suffered it more in Nigeria are those using thin oils, you can do your research. I sha understand that you are a business man ![]() My thermostat and every other factory fittings still intact tho. Na just the oil dey fear me on how to revert back to factory recommendation. My point is you can’t completely downplay the 20w50 oil which has been serving people over the years without issue. |

RichIgboBoy:If I talk now u go say I wan sell market. And have Stated before and again. If your motor na naija used I go dey tell you to use wetin the previous owner was using ....coz naija no fit maintain cars. But if the motor na tokunbo especially Grade A I go encourage and welcome you with open arms to buy my oil..... Yes we can agree the reason for thinner is for environmental reason and increase mpg ..... But this modern cars and engine were structure that way. Especially the oil pump. What we are saying is follow owners manual. If you read owner manual well it will also give you weight of oil you can use at different temperature...... That been said. If your requires 5w20 why do you want to use 20w50. Why not use 5w30 or better yet why not use 5w20 high mileage.. why go to the extreme and use 20w50. This is just common sense (Pic 2). This is a manual for 2016 Benz. The manual gives you option on type of oil weight to use .... The oil pump is designed to accommodate those weight. So why in the hell would you now use 20w50 for the car.... My brother this is my last explanation on the topic . I no get power to dey explain. And I keep saying I will never buy naija used cars unless I wan buy am give somebody and punish that person....

erico2k2:More than 60 percent, I want to believe. It is just sad, told myself my next car will be brand new, don't even care if it is innoson or any of our "brands" here, the day isn't far when I'll make a thread about it here, just like a few have done ☹️, my car is the only thing I own that wasn't bought new, even as I was 'lucky' during purchase and it has turned out to be very reliable, that needs to change, I must see zero for my odometer! |

RichIgboBoy:Simply put, let us see how Engine oil pump work relative to the weight of Oils Now most wear and tear in any Engine occurs at the beginning. Thicker oils move slower than thinner oils, so if your car rotates with insufficient oil, then wear and tear occurs, even worse in colder climes. The Engine heats up to a constant temp after a while so the issue of oil temp do not count as its highest temp is the needle in the middle which is 90.The bores is another thing ,Diesel Engines are different from patrols, Diesel have more power than petrol hence they are for larger Engines and plants. So what this guy is saying is true of Larger Engines but wrong with smaller Engines ie cars. For trucks, Ships, hGV then yeah |

RichIgboBoy:People follow recommended oil change and oil weight, hence we don't hear of Engine rigging much in the wet unless your car suffers a catastrophic Engine failure. |

2cribz:"Cold start" means first start when the engine is cold (typically first thing in the morning after sitting overnight, or during the day after it hasn't been driven for hours and the engine is no longer warm) , not the temperature outside 🙆🏾🤣 This is why you sometimes have to leave the car at the mechanic overnight to cold start it for issues that only happen at cold start smh.

StillDtruth:An insurance write-off is triggered when the cost to repair the damage to the car exceeds the value of the car itself. It may be body damage or mechanical damage. It is also automatically triggered if there is damage to the frame/chassis, regardless of cost, as that is now a safety issue. First-hand knowledge handling insurance repairs in Texas. |

The major purpose of engine oil is for lubrication. Without oil, engine won't start, and if it does ,its a big break down of metals ,aka rod knock. Use any oil ,,be it winter 5,winter 20,winter 30,etc.oil and oil. Remember the car is not brand new, oyinbo dey use car rough pass us,forget most cars at the lot are not first body.they are all repainted. Use these oils, drive ,condem or resell. U won't drive 1 car forever. Stop being scared. 20w50 is no biggie. Go and use 5w40 and watch your engine knock after 2 weeks. A knock with no smoke or leak .e don be...e go dry up like steam |
