At that moment, I remember looking across the room and saying to Professor Nwosu: 'Go ahead with the elections. Go to your offce, hold a world press conference and tell everyone the elections will be held tomorrow as planned? I also recall turning to the Director of the Centre for Democratic Studies, Professor Omo Omoruyi, and telling him to inform his election monitors, foreign and local, that the elections were on. When I later received a call from the American Ambassador, Mr William Lacy Swing, we were both optimistic that the elections would go as planned, and that was what happened.

On Saturday, June 12, 1993, the Presidential elections took place as planned. To my surprise, the polls were not just peaceful but very peaceful indeed! Voting took place in all the 110,000 polling stations in the country, and in keeping with the Modified Open Ballot System (MOBS) as stipulated in Decree 13, counting took place flawlessly in the open, followed almost simultaneously with an open collation that allowed for final results to be attained quickly.

Using a giant board in front of its Abuja offices, NEC started, as early as June 13, as stipulated by the Electoral law, to display already-released results from all 30 State Headquarters of NEC before the Resident Electoral Commissioners brought them to Abuja for final ratification. That process of public display of results, which had now covered 14 states, continued until June 14. And then, on June 16, without my knowledge or prior approval, NEC Chairman, Professor Nwosu, announced the suspension of the June 12 election results until further notice.

I knew instantly that certain fifth columnists were at work and that there was a need for extra care! And even after that suspension of the announcements of results, ABN obtained another 'strange court order from Justice Saleh's court in Abuja, stopping the release of the results of the elections.

—The result being collated are what the NEC state coordinators sent to Abuja through their electoral commissioner.

This is akin to each state releasing 2023 presidential election by those returning officer. Then take that to Abuja for INEC chairman to announce official result and return the president.

The media only announce those result as projection of the winner.

—Those result from those state NEC returning officers are what is being displayed by Prof Nwosu NEC. He never announced the official winner and cowardly close the announcement but yet, somehow miraculously, they want us to immortalize such cowardice.

Immortalizing this will mean turning historical truth on its head. Why should we honor cowardice?

Imsgine what hatred can make someone assume that the "state commissioners sent the result to Abuja". How Was electoral results that were sent to Abuja become public documents ?

Do you know why the results were even sent to Abuja. Do you know thst there was a court of Appeal Judge who mandated that the results be sent to Abuja?

Do you know that when a document is requested by a Court on Nigeria it beco es public document ?

How would you know that Abiola actually won the election ? How do you know that election was the best election ever Held on Nigeria?

You want to believe all this but choose to discredit a man that made all that possible all because of your envious nature you have for the People of the East.

He should announce what was already in the public Domain, that Abiola won the election?

What is the justification to Immortalise someone that failed to announce and conclude the work he started ? If not the bad types of leaders we have in this political dispensation IBB and his Electoral chairman should be in jail by now. If not corruption and stupidity that dominated our political cycles , How will it possible for IBB and his elect chairman to be celebrated in Nigeria.

Nope, first try to check what constitute FAAC for states and where the most money is derived.

Crude constitute the larger bloc. Infact, states will more IGR tend to earn more few billion as benefit for their IGR.

So how exactly do you think Oyo will more IGR is getting less from FAAC because of that?
