Peter Obi's Statement About The Killings In Edo State by naptu2(op): 2:19am On Mar 29, 2025
Peter Obi @PeterObi

The news of the killings of Northern travellers in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, is deeply saddening. Such killings have become a recurring tragedy in our decaying society. Acts of violence like these are abhorrent and had no place in our society yesterday, just as they should have no place in any decent society today. Every Nigerian, regardless of ethnic or regional background, has the right to move freely and safely within our nation.

Reports indicate that these individuals were accused of being kidnappers, leading to their brutal murder by a mob. While addressing security concerns and combating criminal activities is crucial, resorting to extrajudicial measures undermines the rule of law and exacerbates the cycle of violence. I commend the government for condemning this incident and initiating an investigation.

Furthermore, the authorities should also address the killings of Edo indigenes to ensure that justice is served for all.

This tragic event yesterday underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures and increased public awareness to prevent such occurrences in the future. Communities must collaborate with law enforcement agencies to ensure that justice is pursued through legal channels rather than through unlawful actions.

I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. Let us all work together to foster a society where peace, unity, and respect for human life prevail. -PO

It seems we'll all have to get use to comments from 3 if not 4 of the principal actors from 2023 for everything that happens nationally.

One thing I know sha, all this too much talk will eventually lead to someone making a blunder very soon...just like Atiku showed his true colours in Deborah's situation.

The FG not addressing the issue of Fulani herdsmen and Bandit especially outside the Northern Nigeria is the reason behind the jungle justice.

How can some set of people permitted to be moving around with guns while others citizens of the same country dare not try to go to their next local government with a knife.

The FG should ban open grazing and see our security improved. The wicked herdsmen actions is the reason many people now see Northerners as a threat in their community.

May Allah accept their souls and comfort their loved ones.

Unsurprisingly, Peter Obi commented on the recent killing in Edo State, likely because it didn't occur in his own region. His silence on such matters within his territory suggest his tacit support for the terrorist group IPOB, thus revealing the political motivations behind his selective responses to violent incidents.
Re: Peter Obi's Statement About The Killings In Edo State by emkz: 5:12am On Mar 29, 2025
I am even suspecting that tagging every attack or kidnapping as being done by herdsmen is a misnomer. It is possible that locals carry out some of these activities and tag herdsmen.

If there was suspicion, the vigilante could have taken them to the police and leave it at that.

Don't always take the laws into your hands. If you have the energy to kill innocent persons, why don't you have the same energy to go into the forests and sniff out real kidnappers holding your people hostage?

The last part - justice for all. Hausa people keep killing people all over Nigeria and nothing is done.

Let nobody tell me they're not Hausa but Fulani. Hausa people enable them. If Hausa people want this people to end, they'll chase them out of their land
Ipobidients are hoping Obi will be vice to El-Rufai and you are still talking like this?

Do you think Obi can get to Aso-rock without the support of these Northerners that we hate?

So spoiling our chances cry

Who gives a Bleep about Obi? I don't care about an individual but the system.

Hausa people enabled the Fulani to destroy Nigeria so they're culpable. Until the Fulanis are successfully put in check , there's 0 chance of Nigeria making any step towards progress

The whole Nigerians are waiting for was he would say and he never disappoints with his brilliant grasp of the core issues facing the common man in Nigeria. Unlike Tinubu that plays politics of the elites to the exclusion of the poor, Peter Obi is the direct opposite as he plays the politics of the poor to the exclusion of the corrupt elites right from time even before he became Governor of Anambra state, throughout his tenure, after his tenure and till today he still remains that beloved excellency most Nigerians love and voted for in the 2023 elections

Yes, there are hunters everywhere but do you think Nigeria of today is like Nigeria years ago? You cannot be going around with weapons now without being a uniform person and expect not to raise eyebrows.

The incident is a very sadden one but if the FG failed to address the security issue I'm afraid such jungle justice will not happened again and again.

Re: Peter Obi's Statement About The Killings In Edo State by Jughead29: 5:48am On Mar 29, 2025
The government should be blamed for everything,

If the peoples demand all this while was about hunger in the land and a peaceful demonstration the government even FG would have direct security officers to guild everywhere in Edo state, arrest and even shot.

But people have been crying, protesting long ago of insecurity, killings and kidnapping.... They kept quiet, if there were actions from the government and FG deploy security officers to protect the people, these hausa hunters with gun would have been just arrested and investigated.

The youth took it upon themselves, and this evil act happened.... No justice for killing people no matter what, the horrible incident was touching and sadden.

It's high time Government started listening to security issues and handling them with urgency because, the youth can be brutal when allowed to take issues by themselves.
