Hausa Hunters Used To Bring Game For My Father, They're Not Fulani - Reno Omokri by NGsultan(op): 8:05am On Apr 02, 2025
Hausas Have Traditionally Been Hunters For Centuries

I lived in Sokoto and Kebbi. The claim circulating on social media that Hausas and other Northerners do not hunt is false. It is borne out of ignorance. Fulbe people, also known as Fula or Fulani, generally do not hunt. However, Hausas and many other Northern ethnicities hunt, and they hunt more than Southerners.

Because of their skill at hunting, they were employed in large numbers as houseguards in Southern Nigeria. When you see a mai guard with a bow and arrow, that is what he and his ancestors employed to hunt game in the past and till today.

In Kebbi, they used to hunt and bring game for my late father, Justice Jean Omokri.

Pius Utomi, a photographer from Okpanam, Delta State, took this photo almost a decade ago. These fellows are local Hausa hunters. Look at their guns. Is it not similar to that of the Uromi sixteen?

Before Independence, the British found Hausas helpful for their colonial police force due to their hunting and warrior skills. That is why the first police force in Nigeria was the Hausa Constabulary, formed in 1879 with 1200 Hausas.

The Hausa Constabulary evolved into the Royal West African Frontier Force and then the Queen's Own Nigeria Regiment, which eventually became the Nigerian Army.

There is nothing like Hausa-Fulani. That is a coinage of the Lagos-Ibadan media. You are either Hausa or Fulani.

Now, many of the bandits who abduct, kidnap, kill and maim are not even Nigerians. They are rarely ever of Hausa origin. Some may be foreign Fulani. However, many are former members of Muammar Gaddafi's mercenary army, with a lot of them being of Malian origin.

The reason that insecurity spiked in Nigeria in 2011 is because after Gaddafi was killed on Jumu'ah, October 20, 2011, his Black mercenary army fled Libya Southward. Today, they are disturbing the peace of West African countries, not just Nigeria.

Sadly, the same President Obama who caused this did not lift a finger to help us in West Africa. We are still suffering the consequences of his disastrous foreign policy in Libya.

In conclusion, there are over 250 ethnic nationalities in Northern Nigeria. Not every Northerner is a Hausa or Fulani.

Please stop lynching and mobbing people out of ignorance.

Reno Omokri.

Fulanis have conquered Hausa that they have to add Fulani to their name to feel belonged.

When you ask them, they will tell you Hausa then add fulanis.( Hausa-fulanis)

Just like some of other tribes in south west are answering Yorubas to feel belong.

The tribe that owns Lagos are not even allowed to rule Lagos state by Yorubas.

You should not be moving from one state to another with guns

Clearly illegal

He who shows up in a foreign land with a gun is asking for war

It's unfortunate they were killed and they should have been handed over to police

Setting out from Kano and heading in to Edo with guns is an invasion

People need to be guided and stop being a source of insecurity to others

The government needs to wake up and enforce the law

Hunting is a local activity regulated by local government and not a cross border or inter state activities

Different localities have different local laws for hunting, you cannot pick a gun in jigawa enter a bus loaded with other gun bearing people and head to the forests in idemili to hunt python,

you are asking for evil

So if they were Fulani they are free to be lynched abi what is this mumu saying.

The argument should be are citizens permitted to carry guns from one state to the other in the name of hunting let's know whether all of us will turn to hunters.

The issue of Jungle Justice, ethnic profiling and killing of Innocent people are caused by the negligence of the Federal and State government on the issue of civil security matters and selective judgement.

Look at what's happening in Enugu and Benue, Govt has not made any comment concerning it, not to talk about ordering a manhunt.

When these people rise up to defend their self, they may be bound to mistakes because they are not trained officers.

As long as the Federal and State government have turned deaf and dumb on the problem of rampaging Fulani herdsmen, Northerners will always be in danger in Southern Nigeria.

This issue must be solved from the grassroot by tackling the problem of killer herders.

Reno is hustling had for a job in Aso rock make Tinubu give this guy job even if it's washing Remi's panties grin grin
. Hunting is done locally in a terrain you are familiar with, this guys are not animal hunters but human Hunters, maybe Reno will get sense of one of his relatives is hunted by them
Is there no more animals in the North how can you be roaming around another man's land with weapons is that not a call for war undecided considering the insecurity nature of the country and how this same community has been traumatized by herdsmen mayhem. I can tell you for free that the lynched guys are not hunters but a few among kidnappers and killer herdsmen roaming about the South.
Re: Hausa Hunters Used To Bring Game For My Father, They're Not Fulani - Reno Omokri by Phils:
Trying to make sense out of his rant.

Does he mean that they should have been spared because they are Hausa hunters but attacked if they were Fulani? Or what?

There is no dispute that they are hunters but what happened is just unfortunate. Our security system in Nigeria is poor and inadequate.

By the way, Hausa and Fulani are different tribes but they are the ones that try to make themselves look inseparable, which gives them a bigger voice in politics, and never a coinage of 'Lagos-Ibadan' media as Reno said.

The best and known traditional/occupational hunters in the North are from the minority tribes in the North and they have the vegetation and game to hunt. They don't go about the whole country hunting.

Sad to say that most of the hunters from Hausa/Fulani are mostly not indigenous Nigerians, but Nigeriens. Nobody will want to mention that though.

If you must hunt. Please hunt in your state or region dont bring guns all the way from sokoto to South.

He never speaks against the killing of his people but will jump to defend the North.
