My Honda CRV 2006 check engine light is on and also the Brake is showing on the dashboard.the gear box doesn't select well .Just got the vehicle a few months ago.Please what's the recommended engine oil and transmission oil to use and how can I turn off the check engine light on the dashboard

I bought a toyota camry 2011 model in September 2024. I Serviced the engine after purchase with mobil oil in December because rarely drive it. Few days after service, I travelled with it to Iseyin from Lagos, on my way back to Lagos on the third day, I got to 7up around Alausa, the car just stopped. I checked I couldn't find any fault, I thought it is a electrical , after a while I tried restart it and it actually start and I drove to Ikeja and it stopped again. I therefore looked for an electrical technician who helped check, on a second thought, I decided to check the engine oil and to my surprise, the oil had dried, then I allowed the engine to cool before refill with a new engine oil. thereafter the engine started making loud noise anytime I tried to put on ignition.
My mechanic explained that some parts in the engine has been affected and I've to replaced it, which I did though by another mechanic.
But since then I've been having one issues or the other. The AC is no longer cooling until you accelerate, some parts in the alternator was burnt. And, besides the noise has not stopped.
Kindly assist.

For engine oil na 5w20.... Use wetin the previous owner has been using. To go back to factory setting is like medicine after death

Baba I dey import all those things including engine oil from the USA. Check my signature. I just service my 2016 Honda Civic... I became a Honda owner few weeks ago Honda does not joke with their transmission.. you fit abuse their engine coz they are built strong.... Transmission is a no no 😭 😭


My advice is sit down think am , and see whether it is worth to buy another transmission etc. Think about the cost to put the car together.. if it worth am let know I can than get you the transmission fluid.. it go cost you .

There are many reasons why your car is overheating. I will stick to the most common reason particularly for naija car owners ......


Coolant. I can be bet 100k that you are using water instead of coolant in radiator. The purpose of coolant is to keep the engine cool at a running temperature to prevent overheating. When using water it boils and can't cool the engine down properly.

Using water instead of coolant,might not cause damage right away, but as time goes on the damage will show it's ugly face. This damage will affect the radiator, water pump and most importantly the engine. It will can damage your gasket easily....

The simple solution here is to use original coolant that is compatible for your car. At this rate it is too late to use coolant. You will need to replace whatever is damaged and replace them. Hopefully your gasket is still in good shape.

This to avoid.... Please ignore removing the thermostat. It is there for a reason. Anyone removing thermostat of car needs to be shot and ban from operating or fixing a car.....

Please avoid anyone telling you to buy double cell radiator. Using original coolant that cost around 35k would have saved you time and money. Now you have to spend at least 60k or more to fix the problem.

For your coolant we are your service. This will only be useful once you have done the needful by fixing the car ...

The amount of liters will depend. If you are getting a replacement transmission, to be on the safe side you will need 8 liters .... And if you have any left overs you can always sell it . But to be safe 8 liters...

Dont waste money on any useless gear fake oil sold by him.buy oando dextron 3 or 4,my uncle uses it in his lexus rx330 04 model and no issue. Buy at least 6 litres. 8 litres is too much,is your car a lorry.converter will take another 3 to 4 litres,surface another 1 to 2 litres before it will circulate and guage at dip stick. A liter shud be around 3600 to 3800. Dont Buy from him,u r buying babanla fake and his quote 200k is outrageous. Dru23 sells fake oils

thanks bro, nothing have spoiled it just overheats after driving for a while. I noticed it also boils up the water usimg up the on in the reserve. im thinking it might be the thermostat unfortunately i havent seen one to buy so far. want to replace it then use coolant too. thanks for ue input i greatly appreciate it.

good day guys, my lexus es330 is overheating. the mechanic suggested that the thermostat has issues that i should remove it but i don't want to remiove it even though he told me that's how he fixed his 2.4 camry when it was overheating that it might also be a water pump issue. have anyone here experienced this and how did you fix it?

Well, my engine oil dried up, car start to dey smoke from pulley side where oil seal is. I sha put oil and started the car again but be like engine have knock. Cos it even cut the belt join. I towed it to my house sha. My question now is. Should I repair the engine or just gather money buy direct tokunbo.

The car is Camry 08 with AZ engine type

A bought a Naija used Camry 2010( Venza engine) last 2 year . And d owner was using mobile 1 to service it….. I decided to use hardex 0w-20(which is d oil specfied 4 d Car) since I cud not afford mobile 1. But this hardex drys up fast… which oda oil can I use? A mech said I can use mobile 2000 (5w 30). What’s your advise?

Ever since Mobil went out of reach, I embraced hardex SAE 5W- 30. Just change oil as and when due. Shikena
Mistakes made


1. Buying naija used cars
2. Using unknown brand of oil. I never hear hardex oil before as recommended for any particular motor. I don't even know what country makes that type of oil.

Na to buy to tokunbo engine be dat. And stay away from oil that you don't know the true source.....

I have these fault codes on 2009 Toyota Highlander
P0171; P0174; P0300. The car loses power unexpectedly and will not exceed 30km/hr

Also 2008 Lexus Rx350- P0340 and C1201 (Abs)
The major issue here is hard starting. The cam position sensors and their line have been examined and confirmed ok.
